The Sam Blakeman star and his former on-screen mum headed on a theatre trip to see the new 101 Dalmations musical
Coronation Street star Jude Riordan has seemingly admitted it was an emotional reunion for him and his former on-screen mum as they both headed on a theatre trip alongside an array of soap and Waterloo Road stars.
It was a big night in the city on Wednesday night for former Corrie star Kym Marsh as she was watched by her family and her former castmates in her latest role, playing Disney’s iconic villain Cruella De Vil in 101 Dalmations: The Musical.
The musical follows the story of scheming socialite Cruella who wants to steal 15 adorable Dalmatians to use their fur for a new coat. Kym said earlier this week ahead of her return home: “Lock up your puppies… she’s on her way to Manchester.”
And Kym’s former castmates and friends from Waterloo Road, where she plays school cook Nicky Walters, were out in force for the family-friendly musical’s press night at the Palace Theatre in Manchester.
Jude, who plays Corrie’s Sam Blakeman, was among those enjoying the night out alongside his fellow soap youngsters Billie Naylor (Ruby Dobbs), Isabella Flanagan (Hope Stape), Charlie Wrenshall (Liam Connor) and Bobby Bradshaw (Jake Windass), as well as Emmerdale’s Amelia Flanagan (April Windsor).
Posing for a snap together outside the theatre, Jude wrote on Instagram: “Press night at 101 Dalmatians! So excited to see this! @palaceandopera @101dalmatiansuk #pressnight #corriekids #doggies #101dalmatians #theatre #manchester.” And his followers were quick to respond.
@rebecca.shipway.1410 said: “Aww all your pals. How lovely.” @olive.maher.14 wrote: “Great photos. Enjoy Guys.” @india_saxbyxo replied: “Aww love this.” @laurieinqueens added: “Love the #CorrieKids! Hope you have a blast.”
But Jude also enjoyed being reunited with Rachel Leskovac, who played his mum Natasha Blakeman in Corrie until she was shockingly killed off in a case of mistaken identity by drug lord Harvey Gaskell.
Sharing a selfie of the pair alongside Rachel’s partner, Stevie Bell, Jude shared on social media: “MOTHERRRRRRRR! When you bump into your absolute day ones at the theatre @rachelleskovac @steviebellos #reunited #motherandson #samandnatasha #corrie.” And it seemed to be emotional.
When @moknitsforfun commented: “Why does this bring tears to my eyes?!? Love you two,” Jude replied: “Ikr [I know right], can you see ours.” Meanwhile, @smchriswell said: “This is a fantastic pic! So awesome to see you guys together again!” @laurieinqueens wrote: “THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY!!!! Hi @rachelleskovac, we miss you!!!”
@anne_connors1101 replied: “You look so grown up Jude, it’s lovely to see you with ur screen mum again and Stevie.” @susiek.59 added: “Gorgeous picture!”
