Coronation Street is full of devastating scenes on Wednesday’s episode as two characters are left in danger.

Only recently, David Platt was threatened by Andy at knifepoint, who warned that enemy Harvey Gaskell wants him dead for his life insurance in order to pay off his debts.

In upcoming scenes on Wednesday’s episode, David’s life hangs in the balance after he hires a hitman to run him over so his life insurance can pay off his debts to gangster Harvey.

Soap fans will recall that David’s son Max Turner set fire to their family home, hoping the insurance would pay off his debt, but instead Max faces a lengthy jail sentence for the arson attack and David’s guilt leads to him taking a drastic choice.

However, in a devastating twist, just as David is hit by the car, pregnant Daisy Midgeley dashes out of the pub and the car ploughs into both of the characters.

Having heard the crash, Nick Tilsley, Sarah Platt, Daniel Osbourne, Jenny Connor and Kit Green fly out of the Rovers to find David and Daisy seriously injured.

Shona tends to David but it’s clear he’s bleeding to death as a worried Kit calls an ambulance. Meanwhile, Jenny and Daniel rush to Daisy’s side and beg her to wake up, worried for her baby.

With actress Charlotte Jordan, who plays Daisy, set to leave soon, could her character meet a tragic end after five years on the cobbles?

Talking about her reason for leaving the hit ITV soap, Daisy actress Charlotte, 29, said in a statement: “My time at Coronation Street is something I’ll always cherish. After a brilliant four years for Daisy, it’s time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities.

“It’s been a privilege to be part of a wonderful institution with even more wonderful colleagues who have taught me so much.”

Prior to joining Coronation Street, actress Charlotte had appeared in Nickelodeon’s Summer in Transylvania as Serena from 2010 to 2011 and Netflix’s Free Rein as Gabby Grant from 2018 to 2019.

The actress landed the role of bubbly barmaid Daisy in 2020, where she won a British Soap Award in 2023 for Best Dramatic Performance. Charlotte also won a RTS North West Awards for Best Performance in a Continuing Drama.

Coronation Street is on ITV1 at 8pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and on ITV X and STV.
