Nate Robinson was a key character on Emmerdale until he made a sudden departure to Scotland – but fans now think something else might have happened to him
Nate Robinson was a key character on Emmerdale.
He arrived in the Dales in 2019 when he was seen chatting up Rhona Goskirk. He ended up arriving at the village – the son of Cain Dingle and Cara Robinson and over time, he repaired his relationship with Cain.
In the end, Nate had an affair with Moira and soon he reveals his true identity and connection to Cain. Nate also had a long romance with Tracy Metcalfe and the pair ended up having baby Frankie together.
As far as we know, Nate made his departure from the Dales in early September last year after actor Jurell Carter quit the role. He decided to move to Shetland in Scotland after getting a job there.
Is Nate dead on Emmerdale?
After a revelation in the limo crash scenes, fans are convinced Nate could be the dead body under the lake. A man’s hand – with a very similar bracelet on his wrist – was shown as Amy plunged into the icy cold water.
Fans are convinced they’ll find Nate’s body, with one writing: “I actually cannot wait for them to find Nate’s body when they go to retrieve Suzy’s. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. #Emmerdale,” whilst another added: “It’s Nate Robinson with his little Daddy bracelet on that Frankie made him #Emmerdale.” A third shared: “So if that was Nate’s hand we saw, what happened to him?”
Who killed Nate on Emmerdale?
We are yet to know for sure if Nate is dead – but if he is, there have been some theories about who might have killed him.
At the moment, the biggest speculation is that John Sugden killed Nate. John recently had to help with the removal of Anthony’s body after Ruby killed him, with fans convinced his calmness proved he had killed before.
“That’s Nate under the water, my money is on psycho John, I think he was too comfortable getting rid of creepy grandads body.#Emmerdale,” one wrote, as another shared: “So did John kill Nate because he was the last to see Nate who just weirdly disappeared.” A third added: “I KNEW NATE JUST DIDNT DISAPPEAR, my suspicion John did it #emmerdale.”

Other fans have suggested that if it is Nate, then Caleb could have potentially killed him. One wrote: “My theory is that Caleb killed Nate and so Cain will kill Caleb,” whilst another added: “You see the bracelet that Frankie made him. Either his car crashed into the water or someone killed him and put him in there. My money’s on Caleb killing him #Emmerdale.”
When did we last see Nate?
We last saw Nate when he made a sudden departure from the Dales. In his final scenes, Nate made an enemy of multiple residents. He was beaten up by Cain after Caleb wrongly told his brother that Nate and Moira were having an affair.
Caleb had seen Moira falling into Nate after suffering one of her seizures, and when Tracy found out, she also told him she didn’t believe him. The next time we saw him, Nate was seen talking to John – and he planned to confront her.
Nate decided he was going to leave – but we never actually saw his exit on screen. Mack and John revealed that Nate had left, whilst Cain sent him a voicemail to make amends. Tracy tried to call him, and she got a text message back to say not to contact him, with no one hearing from him since. Could this be proof he’s dead?
What did Jurell say about his exit?
Taking to social media at the time, Jurell said: “So after 5 years, my time at Emmerdale has come to an end. I always say I don’t know where the time has gone but I genuinely don’t have a clue. I want to thank every single person who has supported me, rooted for me, watched me develop and grow over these past 5 years, I truly appreciate you.

“It’s been a massive chapter of my life and will always hold a special place in my heart. Emmerdale is a big family, from the minute I walked in the building on my first day I was made to feel welcome and wanted and I’ve been truly blessed to be a part of it.”
In the lengthy post on Instagram, he added: “Making the choice to leave a place that felt like home, a place I was constantly learning, excited to be and where I was working alongside some beautiful and very talented people was never going to be easy.
“Being a part of a show that’s always been a family favourite, my mum’s, my late grandmother’s (Mamma’s), a show that became my dad’s favourite and making them all so proud, will honestly forever mean everything to me. So from the bottom of my heart, I’m forever grateful and I thank you all. God bless @emmerdale.”
