It looks like a reunion could be on the cards for EastEnders favourites Martin Fowler (James Bye) and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner).
The former couple share an unexpected kiss in the BBC soap later this month, sparking hopes they could get back together.
Fans have seen how Stacey has supported Martin following the return of his other ex-wife Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) last month.
The fruit and veg trader was stunned when he learned Ruby had secretly given birth to his son while in prison, but faced heartbreak when it was revealed the youngster was in hospital and in need of a transplant.
In scenes to air next week, Martin and Ruby learn the news that the donor lined up for Roman isn’t viable.
Doctors confirm Martin is a match and he immediately agrees to be Roman’s new donor, much to Ruby’s relief.
However, Martin later opens up about his fears about undergoing such a big procedure to Stacey, after her daughter Lily Slater (Lalia Turner) shares her worries about what will happen to her and her siblings if something goes wrong.
During his heart-to-heart with Stacey, the exes share an emotional moment and Martin leans in for a kiss.
The next day, the pair are both confused by the kiss, and Stacey seeks advice from her mum Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) – will she encourage her to make a go of things with Martin?
Fans have previously predicted Stacey, Martin and Ruby will be at the centre of a special storyline for EastEnders’ 40th anniversary in February.
Earlier this year, it was announced that there will be an interactive live episode, during which viewers will get the chance to vote on the outcome of a love story, with the actors then having to respond live on air.
One fan theorised on X: ‘Seeing as it’s the Ruby anniversary, why do I have a feeling this will be to decide who Martin (the first child born on the show) chooses out of Stacey & Ruby?’
Stacey and Martin have remained close since they divorced in 2020, even having a brief fling last year.
Martin married her best friend Ruby in 2020, prompting a fallout between the women which later saw Ruby falsely frame Stacey for pushing her down the stairs and losing her baby, resulting in her being jailed.
Ruby was later carted off to prison herself in 2021, when Jean set her up as revenge for framing Stacey.
EastEnders airs these scenes from Tuesday 17 December at 7.30pm on BBC One or stream first from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
