Major Mitchell secret could destroy EastEnders family as the police come calling

Teddy, Harry and Barney Mitchell (Roland Manookian, Elijah Holloway and Lewis Bridgeman) have been hiding a big secret since they rocked up and surprised their long-lost family in EastEnders earlier this year.

But next week, the truth is at risk of spilling out when the police start digging into the Walford newcomers.

As fans might remember, during their housewarming party at No. 1 last month, Harry warned his dad that ‘you know who’ had been sniffing around their old place, trying to find out where they’d moved to.

Last week also saw Teddy instruct Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) to do some creative accounting and hide his wealth.

Forthcoming scenes on the BBC soap will see Jack Branning begin to keep a close eye on the family after making an enemy of Teddy.

It all starts when Jack makes a remark about Harry’s work ethic after Teddy and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) manage to persuade Phil Mitchell to give him a trial at The Arches.

Seeing red, Teddy visits Jack at home, where he issues a thinly-veiled threat, but this only encourages a suspicious Jack to do some digging.

He thinks he’s struck gold later in the week when Jack overhears Harry having a meeting with a contact at McKlunky’s and orders a search warrant to turn over the garage.

After Phil fires Harry, Teddy reiterates to his son what could be at stake if the police start looking into their affairs, so they concoct a plan to hold a charity event for imprisoned Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) at Michell’s Autos to impress the locals.

Believing the fundraiser was Harry’s idea, Phil takes him back on at the garage – but Jack remains convinced the family are up to something and continues to voice his suspicions, leaving father and son worried about what the copper could uncover…

EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 23 September at 7.30pm on BBC One and from 6am on iPlayer.
