Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) has had a traumatic year in Coronation Street but in the middle of it all, she’s tried her best to remain strong.
A few months ago, it was confirmed Lauren was alive after an investigation into her disappearance was launched. At first, DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) believed Roy Cropper (David Neilson) was responsible for murdering the young woman and put the beloved face behind bars.
We love Swain but we’re not over that, just saying.
We then discovered the real culprit was Joel Deering (Calum Lill), an evil solicitor who had manipulated Lauren into starting a relationship with him.
Joel had attacked Lauren when she threatened to tell the police about him, causing her to go on the run and live in hostels.
When Lauren returned, she confirmed to Joel that she’s pregnant with his baby. During a desperate attempt to get rid of Lauren and their son, Joel forced her to consume labour inducing drugs, causing Frankie to be born incredibly early.
The little baby then remained in hospital for ages, prompting Lauren to become overwhelmed with worrying about her baby, and the ordeal surrounding Joel.
Coming up, while in the hospital again, Lauren cuddles Frankie and admits to new boyfriend Max (Paddy Bever) that she lives in fear over social services one day taking him away forever.
Max, who has been a pillar of support for Lauren ever since she returned, tells her that if they stick together, things will be absolutely fine.
Sounds like a case of famous last words.
Amid Joel’s murder investigation Lauren and Max have found some happiness – but is it only a matter of time until things change for them again?
