Julie Carp will be back in Coronation Street from next month
Coronation Street bosses have confirmed that Katy Cavanagh is to reprise her role as Julie Carp on the cobbles after almost ten years away. Katy, 51, has already begun filming and will first be seen back in Weatherfield next month.
As long-term soap fans will know, Julie found love with headteacher turned newsagent Brian Packham and the two left the Street for pastures new in 2015. But the relationship wasn’t to last, and Brian later returned to Coronation Street without her.
After leaving Corrie Katy said: “I have decided it’s time to take a break from the cobbles and pursue other projects and opportunities. I have loved every minute in the world of Julie Carp and I’m not ruling out a return to the Street in the future.

“However I am looking forward to a new challenge and a pair of flat shoes.” Since leaving the soap, actress Katy has had TV roles in Birds of a Feather, Midsomer Murders, and Not Going Out, among other shows.
And what some fans may not know is that her son is also an actor. Her son Noah Jupe, whom she shares with filmmaker husband Chris Jupe, has had some major Hollywood roles.
He starred as Jack Will in 2017 hit film Wonder, and more recently he starred in HBO drama The Undoing – opposite Hugh Grant and Nicole Kidman. The thriller series focuses on Grace Fraser (Nicole), a successful therapist, and her devoted husband, Jonathan (Hugh), and their young son (Noah) who attends an elite private school in New York City.
Ahead of her Corrie return, Katy said: “It is exciting to dust off Julie’s quirky wardrobe again and an absolute joy to step back onto the cobbles. Julie is so much fun, I’ve missed her.”
