Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) was feeling apprehensive in tonight’s EastEnders as she took an important phone call after being scammed.
The beloved character lost all of her savings earlier this year as a result of falling victim to a scammer. The development broke Jean’s heart, but she became determined to try and get a small portion of her cash back.
Jean then announced to Stacey (Lacey Turner) that she was in contact with a solicitor who planned to help her. Suspicious, Stacey spoke to Jack (Scott Maslen) and gave him some information, but he then realised the crime number on Jean’s email was not legit.
This meant she had been scammed again.
Mo (Laila Morse) picked up on Jean’s anxious behaviour in tonight’s episode and wondered what was going on. She explained she had a phone call scheduled, which would determine if she would get any of her money back after the crime.
While this was happening, Harvey (Ross Boatman) was creating an alibi for Kathy (Gillian Taylforth). She was being interrogated by DCI Arthurs over Cindy Beale’s (Michelle Collins) attack, so Harvey said she was with him when it happened.
Listening into this conversation was Martin (James Bye), who was suspicious over Harvey’s connection with Kathy.
Martin questioned them and wondered why Kathy and Harvey were together when Cindy got attacked. The two pals reassured him and said they have not been having an affair – but they did kiss a few months ago.
Martin was bitterly disappointed, but agreed to keep the information a secret from Jean.
When he got back to the Slater household, Martin learnt how Jean’s phone call ended. Sadly, she has not been able to get any of her money back, which means she truly has lost everything.
Martin felt terrible, but matters were made worse when Jean spoke about how grateful she is for hardworking Harvey.
His guilt was increasing – but will Martin reveal Harvey’s betrayal to Jean?
