Emmerdale actress Eden Taylor-Draper has opened up on her working relationship with co-star James Chase, who plays her abusive on-screen husband Tom King

Emmerdale’s Eden Taylor-Draper has shared that she will miss her colleague James Chase as their on-screen drama wraps up.

The 27-year-old portrays Belle Dingle in the revered ITV series, and during the past few months, her character became entwined in a poignant coercive control narrative.

For the past year, Belle has been subjected to mental and physical torment by her estranged spouse, Tom King (James Chase).

Highlights of Tom’s vicious campaign against Belle included feigning the death of her dog, Piper, and installing cameras to invade her privacy at home. With the conclusion of this intense domestic abuse plotline, Eden paid a heartfelt homage to her fellow actor, James.

While speaking with the media on Emmerdale’s set, Eden described the prospect of not collaborating with James on upcoming content as “bizarre,” reports Leicestershire Live.

Eden remarked: “I feel like in the past year, I’ve seen James more than anyone in my life,” also stating, “So it will be bizarre not to work together. This year feels like it has been me and him throughout the entire thing.”

She further commented: “So, it will feel bizarre. But because we knew the story, at some point, was going to round off, we knew it was coming. It will be odd to come into work and not see him.”

The actress expressed her appreciation for the positive reactions from Emmerdale fans to the sensitive portrayal of Tom and Belle’s relationship.

The soap opera talent reflected: “It is amazing and incredible (to discover the response from Emmerdale viewers). Hearing from people that it (the storyline) has helped them.”

“I’ve just heard so much great feedback. We all have. And, to think that’s our work, we get to help people. That’s amazing.”

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV and ITVX
