ITV soap Emmerdale has been cancelled once again next Thursday to make way for more sport as England take on Greece in the upcoming UEFA Nations League football match
Emmerdale fans should brace themselves for disappointment next week as another scheduling change is set to happen on ITV.
The beloved soap won’t be airing next Thursday (November 14), stepping aside for the highly-anticipated England vs Greece match in the UEFA Nations League.
This isn’t a one-off incident as just last month, Emmerdale alongside Coronation Street made way for Live Womens International Football when England played at Wembley Stadium.
However, Emmerdale will return to its its regular 7.30pm slot on Friday (November 15), per the current TV lineup. This shift follows the buzz around the character Ruby Fox-Milligan’s (played by Beth Cordingly) daughter Stephanie, who’s poised to stir things up in the village later in November.
Stephanie, or Steph, portrayed by the talented Georgia Jay, is set to make quite the impact. Georgia Jay has expressed her excitement about the new role, stating: “I am thrilled to be joining the cast of Emmerdale. The cast and crew have all been so welcoming and I’m very excited to see what lies ahead for Steph, given her intriguing backstory.”
Stephanie isn’t coming to the village by herself; she’s joined by Ruby’s father Anthony (played by Nicholas Day), who is bound to cause a stir. Although Anthony has reportedly become more easygoing with age and appears to be charming to those he meets, Ruby hasn’t laid eyes on her dad in over three decades.
Nicholas Day, reflecting on his role, said: “I’ve been made so welcome in the Emmerdale family. And my screen family is great to work with, the scenes just fly. No kidding – I feel blessed.”
Emmerdale producer Sophie Roper added: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Nicholas and Georgia to Emmerdale as part of the Miligan family. With so much yet to discover about Ruby, the arrival of her father and daughter will unlock her past and see Ruby and Caleb tested in ways we’ve never seen before. With two actors of such great calibre, they’re certainly set to make their mark on the Dales.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
