Emmerdale fans watched in horror as a blazing fire ripped through a barn – but viewers also clocked a major ‘blunder’ that left them fuming
Emmerdale fans pointed out a major blunder during the epic barn fire on the soap.
This week, one of Moira Dingle’s (Natalie J. Robb) barn went up in smoke during some big scenes, leaving a number of big-name characters at risk of dying.
The tragedy struck when Moira’s spiralling behaviours saw her cause the fire – with Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) trapped inside. Moira had hallucinated Emma Barton (Gillian Kearney) and shot upwards, causing a spark to hit the tractor fuel on the floor, kickstarting the fire.
Ruby tried to wrestle the gun out of Moira’s arms, but she was knocked unconscious. Meanwhile, Moira woke up confused and what had happened, and seeing the blazing inferno, struggled to wake Ruby.
Noticing smoke coming from the barn, panic soon set in Moira’s brother Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) – who was in a neighbouring field. He then jumped on his quad and raced over.
When Mack arrived, John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) also turned up, startled to come across the fire. The pair were unable to get into the barn, so John told Mack to call the authorities and his family. He then attempted to break the door down, in a bid to save Moira and Ruby.
However, fans couldn’t help but notice how Mackenzie could have used his quad bike to ram down the door instead. On X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said: “Drive the quad through the wooden door, you idiots.”
Someone else added: “Would it not be quicker to drive something at the gates?” A third wrote: “Why don’t they ram the barn door with the van or quad.” Another penned: “Why don’t they use the quad bike?? Drive at it?”
Near the end of the episode, Cain headed into the barn where he found Moira alive but the pair were trapped in the burning barn as they tried and make an escape. Before long, a huge explosion threw them all to the ground. But Moira and Cain hadn’t yet got to safety when the barn exploded, hinting that the pair are dead.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
