The day of Moira Dingle’s brain surgery arrived during Wednesday’s Emmerdale but rather than be supportive her husband Cain struggled with the thought of losing his wife and made bad decisions
Emmerdale aired a dramatic twist for Cain Dingle on Wednesday (November 11) as his wife Moira (Natalie J Robb) had life-saving brain surgery to remove a tumour.
The special episode saw Moira put on a brave face as she prepared to go under the knife. But it was Cain who was overwhelmed by the terrifying situation as he left the hospital and opted to spend the day drinking and making bad decisions.
Viewers of the ITV soap saw Cain’s day play reverse chronological order and started with Caleb Miligan (William Ash) disappointed to find his half-brother drunk with bloodied hands.
But as struggling Cain knocked back whisky while sitting alone in his garage he was interrupted by a surprise visitor, Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly).
Ruby was shocked to see her brother-in-law Cain after thinking he would be at the hospital with Moira.
“Why you in my garage”, Cain queried as she replied: “Someone I wasn’t bothered about seeing.”
The pair had a brief exchange of words before they kissed passionately. In another scene, Cain and Ruby can both be seen fixing their clothes signalling they had taken their moment of passion further.
Emmerdale fans were left fuming with Cain and Ruby betrayal and took to social media to air their frustrations.
One person wrote: “Cain taking not dealing with his emotions to a whole new, unnecessary level #emmerdale.”
A second stated: “All I’ve got to say after seeing tonight’s #Emmerdale earlier is what the hell were you thinking Cain and Ruby! #Emmerdale.”
A third chimed in: “Why did Cain do that man. Not Ruby #Emmerdale #nothappy.”
“Tomorrow episode Cain story better be a fake reality because I don’t know what #Emmerdale was thinking”, added another.
“The Ruby thing was ridiculous, I hate how #emmerdale always has to make important storylines into a farce”, added one viewer.
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
