ITV Emmerdale newcomer will come face-to-face with her mum in tonight’s episode
A villager’s past is to be revealed in tonight’s episode of ITV Emmerdale as she comes face-to-face with her mother after more than a decade.
Caleb and Ruby’s estranged daughter Steph made a dramatic return to the village last week, as she sought to secure her inheritance from her late grandmother. Last week, she made it clear she was not there to reconcile.
However, tonight’s episode will see Caleb once again meet up with Steph, this time over breakfast. While Caleb attempted to make her favourite foods from when she was a child, it was clear the pair of them had not spoken for a long time.
He revealed he had been sending Steph letters but was unsure if she had ever received them, and Steph was not willing to give a real answer. As they were talking, Ruby returned from her trip to visit Nicky and was shocked to see Steph there.
Caleb left so the pair could catch up and Ruby revealed Steph had been sent to a boarding school after she had stolen a car aged 14. Steph and Ruby’s argument escalated, with Ruby defending her parenting and Steph arguing she had been abandoned.
This continued until the conversation got onto Steph’s grandmother, and Ruby slapped her, before Steph left in tears.
Meanwhile, in a visit with Chas, Caleb revealed more of Steph’s past, saying they had once been very close. He said he had been having an affair with another woman, and Steph found out, so Caleb made sure she would not tell her mum.
This caused Steph to act out and Ruby soon found out about the affair anyway. When Ruby demanded that Steph be sent to boarding school, Caleb said he did not defend Steph as he was still dealing with the fallout from the affair.
He said he wished he had stood up for her, and Chas urged him to fight for her now. Later, Steph also revealed she was plotting something following a strange phone call, in which she spoke with a mystery partner about making sure she got the money, as a lot was at stake.
Caleb comforted Ruby, saying Steph was the best of both of them, and that she could not ignore them anymore. Finally, Steph sat down for drinks with Ross Barton, inviting him back to her B&B.
Emmerdale will air at 7.30pm on ITV1.
