2025 won’t be drama free for those in the Dales
As 2024 comes to a close, soap land is preparing for another year full of drama and twists at every corner.
Fans of ITV soap Emmerdale are in for an early treat this New Year’s Eve as the show will tease fans with five flash-forward scenes giving them a taste of what’s to come in 2025.
In recent weeks, viewers have watched the Dales as Ross Barton returned stirring up trouble for Marlon Dingle and his teenage daughter April, the latter of which disappeared on Christmas morning. Kim Tate watched as her husband Will Taylor came to an untimely end as he died after suffering from a heart attack, and Belle Dingle finally got justice as Tom King was sentenced to three years in prison after inflicting a lengthy campaign of abuse towards her.
While most of us like to enjoy a slow start into the New Year, the village has different plans as cryptic scenes will spell out trouble for Emmerdale’s residents.
Speaking of the scenes, producer Laura Shaw said: “The flash forwards will tease several storylines that will reveal a sneak peak of what’s to come across 2025.
“As our villagers toast the New Year, a glimpse into each of their futures will be revealed. As the fate of those depicted hangs in the balance, the only thing for certain is it’s going to be an explosive year in Emmerdale.”
In true soap form, however, that’s not all viewers can anticipate. Elsewhere in the village, Ruby is struggling to adjust to life in the village now that her abusive father Anthony has decided to stay put, yet she is still attempting to make amends with her daughter Steph so that the pair can have a fresh start. Unfortunately for Ruby, Anthony also knows about her affair with Cain Dingle, so viewers can expect tensions to rise even higher.
Ruby makes the decision to confide in Chas that Caleb might not be Steph’s father, and as viewers have come to expect, nothing stays a secret for long in the Dales.
With April still missing as January looms, Marlon and Rhona struggle to pull together to support each other as Marlon blames himself once a devastating secret is revealed.
The village is still reeling from the aftermath of Will’s death, and his daughter Dawn turns her suspicions towards Kim as she uncovers something that leads her to take matters into her own hands, with decisions that could have some serious repercussions.
Although usually a time to celebrate, New Year’s Eve on Emmerdale will have some explosive consequences as the drama implodes across the village.
Emmerdale is on at 7.30PM, weeknights on ITV1, STV and available on ITVX.
