Jonny McPherson confirms which residents of the Dales are in danger

Emmerdale star Jonny McPherson has confirmed that at least 16 villagers are at risk as the ITV soap airs the fatal flash forward that sees a limo stuck in an icy lake.

Jonny McPherson joined the Dales in 2014 to take on the role of Dr. Liam Cavanagh. He played a recurring role up until 2018 when he became a full-time cast member and has recently reignited his relationship with Chas Dingle after separating from Ella Forster.

Viewers will watch as Liam anticipates an exciting night with him planning to propose to Chas after receiving a blessing from Aaron. He buys as many tickets for the raffle as he can in the hopes it’ll win him a night in the limo.

Jonny explained: “Liam decides he’s going to buy up about eighty percent of the tickets, just to make sure he’s the winner. Sadly, that doesn’t turn out to be the case – as Kerry wins. So poor Liam is then forced to come up with another plan to ensure he can still go through with proposing in a limo to Chas.”

With Liam securing a new limo, he feels a tad defeated that he won’t be able to spend the night with Chas and so enlists the help of Mandy for a favour in order for his night of romance to still go ahead.

Speaking about whether Liam should take his plans crumbling as a sign, Jonny shared: “Yes I think a little part of him does begin to have doubts whether this is the right thing to do. But I think Liam is hoping for some divine intervention so he’s not yet dissuaded from trying to propose, and infact Mandy does step up to help.”

The flashforwards first aired on New Year’s Eve to give viewers a taste on what to expect in 2025. Since then, there have been various fan theories about who could potentially end up in icy peril, particularly as one villager is shown to be trapped under the ice.

Jonny has confirmed that there are at least 16 villagers who could potentially be in trouble, as it’s currently unknown which limo crashes into the lake. He confirmed: “Cain, Caleb, Bear, Paddy, Mackenzie, Matty, Sam and Liam” are in the “boys limo”, and “Chas, obviously, Kerry the prize winner, Leyla, Suzy, Amy, Vanessa, Charity and Mandy” are in the “girls limo”.

The actor also admitted: “I hope the audience will be enthralled by this. This is the first time I’ve done something of this magnitude stunt wise. Our DOP (Director of Photography) Chris Ramage told me that a lot of the shots are the best he’s seen in his 30 years here at Emmerdale.”
