Villagers are demanding answers in the Dales
Emmerdale has had a drama-filled January, and as the ITV soap gets ready to welcome February, it’s clear that there are no plans to slow the pace.
As Ross reminds Marlon of the impact his behaviour is having on his family, and encourages him to open up as to why he has a black eye. Marlon recounts that he was tricked into giving away money and Ross admits that he’s concerned for his wellbeing.
There’s no saying if Marlon will listen to Ross, but the latter still suggests that Marlon he needs to keep sight of his family at home. Meanwhile, Rhona is somewhat relieved to learn that Marlon will be taking a step back, but is once again concerned when he refuses to talk about his black eye and teams up with Ross to search for April.
The following day, Marlon becomes angry with Rhona as she asks him to consider taking a little more time with Leo and Ivy to unite them as a family again. With Rhona distraught, Paddy tries to get Marlon to talk about his feelings and open up to her. Has he got through to his desperate friend?
Later, the arrival of PC Swirling worries Rhona and Marlon, and they’re left fearing for the worst after they’re told to sit down before revealing that April has been found.
Viewers will watch as a special episode reveals April’s tragic story. Marlon and Rhona are also overwhelmed and struggling to come to terms with PC Swirling’s update.
Elsewhere in the village, Caleb decides to confront Cain about sleeping with Ruby. However, Cain denies it ever happened and pushes Caleb to share where he heard that from. Caleb awkwardly admits that it was Anthony who told him. Can Cain keep his guilty secret and what does Caleb confess?
Further afield in the Dales, Noah becomes worried but is soon assured by a duplicitous Joe that the bad reviews (that Joe is secretly posting), won’t negatively affect him. Joe creates an enviable vision of Dubai, and suggests to Noah that he could help get him some work there instead. Although Noah expresses excitement, Charity is determined to not let her son go.
Speaking of Joe, Kim’s suspicions towards him continues to grow. Joe demonstrates his painkillers withdrawal in order to get close to Dawn, and feels encouraged that he’s finally make some progress with her.
Unfortunately for him, the moment is ruined when Kim arrives back home. After clocking on that Dawn and Joe have had various amorous run-ins, Joe attempts to quell Kim’s suspicions by using his painkiller story which she seemingly accepts.
When a heated moment leads to a passionate kiss between Joe and Dawn, they manage to quickly sneak upstairs and luckily avoid an oblivious Charity from catching them as she sneaks into Home Farm.
Panicking as Kim returns home, Charity grabs the nearby laptop and sneaks out and later makes a big discovery.
Also in the village, as Sarah looks forward to a date night with Jacob, Leyla pitches her idea for a valentine’s raffle. However, she gets upset after an unenthusiastic response followed by a refusal of food plans from Suzy and Belle leave Leyla once again crushed at her own loneliness.
Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
