Fans of Emmerdale think one villager is trying to cover their tracks
Emmerdale fans have “worked out” who in the village has stolen cash from the depot after Jai opened an investigation to look into the petty theft – and they’re convinced it’s to do with Anthony Fox.
In recent episodes, viewers watched as the latest villain to grace the Dales received his comeuppance. Anthony Fox was introduced as the estranged father of Ruby Fox-Miligan and he announced he was planning on staying in the village alongside Ruby’s daughter Steph who he had grown close to.
As Ruby began to struggle with Anthony being in such close proximity, viewers learnt that Anthony had sexually abused Ruby when she was a teenager. After speaking with Chas, she was encouraged to do a DNA test to see who Steph’s real father is. Unfortunately for Caleb, he found the results that documented that there was a zero percent chance that Steph could be his – meaning Anthony had fathered her.
After Caleb confronted his father-in-law when finding out about his harrowing actions, Anthony managed to escape without a single bullet wound. He travelled to the depot where he intended to meet with Steph, however, it was Aaron Dingle who showed up instead.
Aaron became angry after Anthony admitted to what he had done to Ruby, and in a fit of apoplectic rage Aaron threw several deadly punches his way. Although he left when Anthony was still alive, upon him and boyfriend John Sugden returning to see him, Anthony was pronounced dead.
John promised to “deal” with Anthony’s body as he discarded his remains. However, their clean up plan didn’t quite go as smoothly as they hoped as one of Anthony’s teeth remains under the shelving units of the depot.
On Monday (27th January) night’s episode, Jai gathered his staff at the depot to conduct a bag search as £200 in petty cash had gone missing after announcing that they had a break in.
Billy Fletcher questioned Jai asking if he was the one who had left the door unlocked as he was the last to leave the depot. However, could the real culprit be Anthony’s killer?
Viewers believe this is the case, and are convinced that the real killer stole cash to make it seem like a break in, and they don’t think it’s Aaron who did it.
On an Emmerdale Facebook fan group, one user suggested: “Whoever finished Anthony off stole the petty cash… Or tried to make it look like he was killed by a burglar. Whoever it was must wonder why no body has been found.” Another fan replied: “It was definitely Anthony’s real killer who wanted to make it look like a robbery. What if they returned after the body had already been removed and took the cash because they panicked?”
On X (formerly known as Twitter), @Matt528chap added: “the person who took the petty cash is more than likely to have murdered Anthony”. While it’s currently pointed at Aaron being the murderer, is there another twist in store for Emmerdale fans? Not to mention, Jai is bringing the police into interrogate the workers at the depot to get the truth.
Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
