Fans of Emmerdale are convinced they have worked out the hidden character behind the tooth flashforward
Emmerdale fans have “worked out” who the missing tooth is in the flashforward that showed Anthony Fox dead on the ground – and it’s not a character viewers have seen recently.
The ITV soap has been nothing short of gruesome in recent episodes, with latest villain Anthony receiving his comeuppance by being murdered after his past crimes came to the surface. Viewers were shown flashbacks of Ruby as a teenager and it was soon revealed that she had been sexually abused by her father Anthony.
Emmerdale also dropped the bombshell that Anthony was Steph’s biological father after Caleb found the DNA test results that showed there was zero percent chance that he could be her father. Fans then saw him lead his father-in-law to a secluded barn to confront him with a gun. The soap aired a flashforward that saw Anthony lay on the ground, dead, with his blood surrounding him.
However, that’s not all, as eagle-eyed viewers also noticed a tooth glistening in the corner. But who does it belong to? While perhaps the most logical owner of the said tooth would be Anthony, some fans are convinced there’s another twist in store, and it actually belongs to Nate Robinson.
Nate first appeared in the Dales back in 2019 with his first scene showing him sharing a kiss with Rhona. After that, we saw him start working for Moira before everything turned sour for the character. A misunderstanding from Caleb meant that Cain was convinced Nate had kissed Moira, when in actual fact she had a seizure. As former-wife Tracy cut him off after learning of the ‘betrayal’, Nate left the village as he took on a new job in Shetland.
Things have been silent for the character ever since, with a brief mention that he was alive and that’s all. Fans have previously theorised that it’s Nate’s grave that Cain Dingle is standing at in the new year flashforward, with John Sugden being the secret serial killer.
One Emmerdale viewer on a Facebook fan group suggested: “I really think the tooth is Nate’s…” as another fan added: “Could be! He went several months ago and hasn’t been heard from since…” A third user joined in on the theory as they replied: “That would be some twist!” suggesting that Nate never made it out of the village at all, and perhaps his killer was the one to send the text to Tracy.
For actor Jurell Carter, life has been busy since leaving Emmerdale after landing a role as Loggo in James Graham’s play Boys from the Blackstuff, that starts touring this year.
The adaptation of Alan Bleasdale’s BAFTA award-winning television drama is set in 1980s Liverpool and centres around a group of five men who are struggling to find work in the city – especially as there is none available. He was also the voice of multiple Sephora ads as he took on an American accent for the role, as confirmed on his Instagram.
Emmerdale is on weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
