Emmerdale’s Billy was seen taking a mysterious phone call amid his huge secret – now fans have ‘worked out’ who was on the other end of the line
Emmerdale fans are certain Billy Fletcher is working with a past soap legend, amid his huge secret getting exposed.
The character, played by Jay Kontzle, has been feeling the pressure as of late to provide for his struggling family. Fans will recall wife Dawn (Olivia Bromley) can’t work as she is caring for their son Evan, who has leukaemia.
In the past few weeks, Billy has been acting very suspicious. Dawn ended up coming across a wad of cash, and Billy thought up a quick lie, which she bought. However, during Wednesday’s episode (October 9) his secret was revealed to viewers.
Despite their sick child Evan being able to leave the hospital and head home, Billy’s mind was elsewhere. Later on, a bloodied and bruised Billy was found by a concerned Mack (Lawrence Robb).
Billy had an open wound on his side and required serious medical attention. However, Billy didn’t want anybody involved, revealing that he had been fighting at an underground boxing club.
Mack then called on John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) who cleaned up Billy’s wound, before warning him that he could get killed if he took part in any more fights.
Returning home, Dawn was left worried seeing Billy’s bruises, but he conjured up a lie about him getting caught up at a Boxercise class and apologised to Dawn.
She then went to tend to Evan who was home, however, Billy received a call. Picking it up, a woman was on the other end who asked Billy if he wanted to another fight next week – for double the money.
However, it’s fair to say the mystery phone caller has got plenty of fans talking. Sharing their thoughts online, fans are convinced it’s actually a past soap legend.
One person said on a Reddit thread: “Why does the end voicemail sound a bit like a certain someone?” The fan added: “Could just be nothing but sounds Tina doesn’t it?”
Other viewers agreed too, as someone else replied: “It does sound very like her, if they were to bring her back, there is the obvious reason coming soon so no need for a side plotline but this is soap.” A third penned: “Why does the voicemail at the end sound a bit like Tina.”
Tina Dingle (Jacqueline Chadwick) first appeared on Emmerdale back in 1994. She was Zak Dingle’s (Steve Halliwell) only daughter on the soap – but hasn’t been seen on screen for nearly 30 years, with her last appearance being in December 1996.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
