ITV Emmerdale fans plead ‘sort it out’ as they make same demand for couple

Fans are asking for a former couple to reconcile after they spot chemistry in a recent scene

Emmerdale fans demanded that the ITV soap “sort it out” as they aired scenes of former couple Vanessa and Charity that were filled with chemistry on Tuesday (25th February).

Charity and Vanessa were a beloved couple in the Dales, but had a very on-again-off-again relationship. Vanessa originally struggled to trust Charity as she was quite happy to flirt with other people, but they officially got together after she confronted Charity for her behaviour.

In 2020, Vanessa was diagnosed with bowel cancer and although she initially hesitated in telling Charity, she became a great support system as she came to terms with her diagnosis and eventually had a successful operation which removed the tumour and affected lymph nodes.

The pair officially broke up when Vanessa left the village to visit her mother but had to stay for longer to look after her. Tracy decided to send Vanessa a picture of Charity kissing someone else (Mackenzie Boyd), leading her to believe that she was having an affair. Vanessa decided to end the relationship and stay at her mum’s.

When Vanessa eventually returned to Emmerdale, she was shocked to meet Charity’s boyfriend Mackenzie who fans will recognised as her now-husband.

Since then, the pair have rarely interacted apart from an “almost kiss” after Vanessa checked in on Charity when the grand re-opening of The Woolpack Pub ended in disaster.

During Tuesday’s episode, Vanessa comforted Charity once more as she blamed herself for what happened during the horrific Valentine’s limo crash. Charity was the one driving the limo as it veered off the road into the frozen lake so she could avoid hitting her son Noah who had been spiked.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, three lives had been lost – Amy Wyatt, Leyla Harding and Vanessa’s current girlfriend, Suzy Merton. As Vanessa walked into the pub holding a gift for Frankie’s birthday, Charity poured her a glass of wine on the house.

Charity, who was already upset, then shared: “I’m so sorry for your loss, and I’m so sorry about the accident” to which a teary-eyed Vanessa replied: “Oh Charity, it wasn’t your fault.”

The pair continued to share an emotional moment as Charity admitted she liked Vanessa and Suzy together, which made Vanessa start to cry before trying to stop herself. Vanessa then revealed that Suzy’s parents contacted her to say that she’ll be buried in her home town.

Charity expressed annoyance on her behalf, sharing that Vanessa should go to the funeral, to which she agreed and asked if Mary would go with her.

Some viewers have long awaited a “Vanity” reunion as they pair are lovingly named, and taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), @denisedc73 wrote: “Charity and Vanessa had more chemistry in that one and a half minute scene that Cack have had in the last 5 yrs…sort it out #emmerdale please!!!!”

@shaunlynch87610 added: “The quicker Emmerdale get Charity and Vanessa back together the better” as @average_ezx penned: “there’s been a VERY deliberate decision made to put charity and vanessa back in each other’s orbits, and I for one, am all for it. count me in.”

Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
