ITV Emmerdale fans make demand for Beth Cordingly to ‘never leave’ as she posts ‘odd’ throwback

Emmerdale star Beth Cordingly has won fans over as Ruby in the soap

Emmerdale star Beth Cordingly shared an “odd” throwback video of her as Ruby on set as fans make a demand for her to “never leave” the Dales after her character’s recent storyline with Anthony Fox.

Beth Cordingly took on the role of Ruby Fox-Miligan in 2024 and was quite the divisive character at first as she fell out with many of the long-standing villagers. In more recent episodes, however, she’s become a fan-favourite as Ruby struggled with memories resurfacing of her father Anthony Fox abusing her as a teenager.

Anthony Fox arrived in the Dales as Ruby’s estranged father alongside her daughter Steph. It soon came to light that Anthony had sexually abused Ruby repeatedly in aired flashbacks of her sixteenth birthday party. Caleb then found out he wasn’t Steph’s biological father after finding the DNA test results in Ruby’s bag.

He led his father-in-law to a secluded barn to confront him with a gun, although Anthony fled the scene without a single bullet wound, Aaron Dingle caught up with him at the depot. Aaron saw red once Anthony taunted him with memories of his own abusive father Gordon Livesy and he threw several deadly punches towards the villain.

On Thursday night’s episode, it was revealed that Aaron didn’t kill him, but Ruby had actually finished the job herself to make him pay for what he had done to her.

After these emotional scenes aired, fans praised Beth Cordingly for her performance. The actress recently celebrated actor Nicholas Day for taking on the “challenging” role of Anthony. In an Instagram statement she wrote: “In case anyone is under any illusions I just want to stress what a beautiful man Nick Day is, in real life.

“We were very lucky to have an actor of his calibre and talent playing my father, Anthony, in Emmerdale. It wasn’t an easy role for anyone to take on and he found playing this person extremely challenging.”

Beth Cordingly has frequently shared glimpses with fans of Emmerdale behind the scenes, and on Thursday she posted a throwback video of her sat in Ruby’s old car. She captioned: “Ooh. This just came up. This is Ruby -between takes -exactly a year ago.

“When she did more shouting and less crying and upset EVERYBODY ALL THE TIME. The sound I am making – whilst doing my lipliner between takes – appears to be a genuine sound coming out of my mouth. Which is odd because it sounds like one of those hyenas in The Lion King. Or one of those creepy laughing baby-dolls that makes sounds no human baby ever made ever. Until now.”

Fans rushed to the comments to tell the star how much they enjoy her presence in the Dales, @darryljason wrote: “Been waiting for your breakdown scene In the car. I remember your post about it a couple of months ago!! Absolutely brilliant! You’re smashing this storyline! So heart-wrenching watching Ruby just crumble to pieces but you’re acting is incredible Beth!!! My bets are on you getting the awards at the Soap Awards this year!! You’re awesome!!!!”

@deer.724669 added: “Absolutely amazing please never leave” and @skye_berrys_ penned: “This makes me want to go back and watch when you first joined coz oh my gosh the drama!!”

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
