Fans of Emmerdale have figured out who Joe Tate is scheming with and it’s someone who hasn’t been seen in the village since 2005
Emmerdale fans believe they’ve worked out the identity of the mystery caller that Joe Tate contacted in recent episodes, and it’s someone who hasn’t been seen in the village since 2005.
Actor Ned Porteous returned to the ITV soap last December, and his character Joe Tate has already stirred up some drama for those living in the Dales. Upon his return, viewers watched as he was revealed to be the mastermind behind Will’s revenge plan for Kim.
After Will unexpectedly suffered from a heart attack and died on Christmas Day, Joe has been working to get closer to Kim Tate for reasons that are currently unknown.
In recent episodes, however, fans have tried to figure out what could be wrong with Joe as on numerous occasions he’s been seen struggling to breathe and clutching his stomach in pain. Dawn recently found him slumped at the wheel of his car in a ditch and spotted painkillers surrounding him.
Dawn’s under the assumption that he’s addicted to the medication, but Joe assures her he’s been taking them for his head ever since he was injured in an altercation with Cain Dingle back in 2018 that caused him to leave the village in the first place.
Fans have theorised that there’s a darker twist, with some suggesting that he’s in need of a kidney transplant which is why he’s been trying to bond with his half-brother Noah Dingle.
Joe was seen to be phoning an unidentified person and telling them that he was finding it hard to keep his secret. Some viewers are confident that they’ve worked out who the person on the other end of the line is – Jean Tate. Jean is the daughter of Scott Windsor and Zoe Tate who lived in Emmerdale until 2005 when she emigrated with her mum Zoe.
Fans on Reddit believe she could be making her return to the Dales and might be involved in Joe’s scheming. u/crazyxchick theorised: “This may be a bit far fetched but…would they ever bring back Jean? Joe mentioned recently that Noah was his only family, but what about Jean. She’d be in her 20’s now and I highly doubt her mother raised her with an ideal view of Kim.”
u/Longjumping-Sea-5317 added: “Jean would be good but Scott would have to come as a package and vice versa it would be such a missed opportunity for one to show up and not the other and a Scott return is basically 20 years overdue.” u/Ordinary_Egg5546 echoed: “That would be great to bring Jean back. I think that they should bring some of the older characters back.”
