Emmerdale fans were left devastated for Moira Dingle on Wednesday night’s episode of the ITV soap as she was forced to make a heartbreaking decision after a death twist
Emmerdale viewers were left reeling from a dramatic death twist in Wednesday night’s episode of the popular ITV soap.
In the intense episode, characters Matty Barton and Mack Boyd were left in shock as they discovered several immobile sheep on the farm, prompting an urgent call to the vets.
Vanessa Woodfield arrived shortly afterwards and broke the tragic news to a distraught Moira Dingle that most of her flock had perished, with one in dire condition. Questions arose when Vanessa enquired whether the livestock had accessed a nearby trough, leading to confusion as Moira affirmed this, believing her son Matty was responsible for feeding them, while he maintained it was his mother who did so.
The mystery deepened as Vanessa noted paint around the mouths of the sheep, prompting further inspection of the trough where they found hay covered in paint.
Defensive yet bewildered, Moira confessed she had been painting fences but firmly denied bringing any paint near the animals. Despite her assertions, evidence presented by her family and Vanessa suggested otherwise, leaving Moira troubled and questioning what had happened, reports Leeds Live.
Later in the episode, Moira came to a heart-wrenching conclusion, choosing to cease work for the moment due to her worrying health condition. A despondent Moira expressed her anguish, lamenting: “If I can’t work what else am I supposed to do? This tumour is taking away everything – my job, my independence, I don’t even know who I am anymore..”
After realising she could cause further harm and put more lives in danger, a tearful Moira consented to cease work for the moment, confessing: “It’s the only way.”
Just last month, Emmerdale confirmed a heartbreaking brain tumour storyline for Moira, where she was diagnosed with a type of brain tumour called a meningioma.
The shock diagnosis explained Moira’s behaviour recently, where she had been suffering from symptoms including changes to her personality, violent outbursts, confusion, memory loss and seizures.
The tumour, although non-cancerous, has left Moira seriously worried about her future and concerned about the possibility of surgery, as well as other treatments.
Emmerdale has worked closely with the charities Brains Trust and The Brain Tumour Charity, who will continue to support the production team to give Moira’s story a realistic and authentic depiction.
