One Emmerdale character has been killed off off-screen six years after leaving the village for a new life in Liverpool and the news has left villagers devastated
Emmerdale has delivered a shock to fans by revealing the off-screen death of a character who hasn’t been seen in the village for six years.
Viewers of the ITV soap were left reeling this week when Ross Barton, played by Michael Parr, was disclosed as Billy Fletcher’s (Jay Kontzle) rival in an underground boxing match.
In the latest episode, available on ITVX and airing on ITV1 tonight (Wednesday, October 30), Ross paid a visit to Charity Dingle’s (Emma Atkins) home to drop something off for their son Moses Dingle (Arthur Cockroft).
During his visit, he shared details about his life since leaving Emmerdale in 2018, where he moved to Liverpool with Rebecca White (Emily Head) and her son Seb White, Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) biological child.
A moment of levity occured when Ross asked Charity for a “selfie” to show Moses his parents are on good terms. However, when Charity snatched his phone to call Rebecca, she gets no response. Ross revealed they had “split up a while back” before dropping the bombshell that Rebecca is dead.
He recalled how she had contacted him about taking care of Seb while she underwent what was supposed to be a routine hospital operation, reports Leeds Live.
Ross explained: “We went go-karting and he loved it, we both did, and then I helped him make a card for his mum but he never got to give it to her. We were both having a pizza when we got the call. It turns out I was still listed as her next of kin. They said it was a one in a thousand chance.
“Her heart just stopped and that was it. I let Seb go to sleep that not knowing he didn’t have a mum anymore.”
Charity then questioned if Robert was aware and Ross disclosed that Seb is now residing with one of Rebecca’s family members in Bristol.
Viewers will recall that Rebecca, who first arrived in the village in 2016, suffered a brain injury after being involved in a accident caused by her killer nephew Lachlan White (Thomas Atkinson).
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
