Coronation Street viewers are convinced Ken Barlow will propose to Cassie Plummer in an upcoming episode as the pair grow closer despite her worrying antics towards him

Coronation Street fans are speculating that Ken Barlow (played by William Roache) might be heading down the aisle with Cassie Plummer (portrayed by Claire Sweeney), which would mark his fifth time tying the knot.

In the latest twists of the ITV drama, Cassie has been seen manipulating Ken, even going as far as to spike his tea with medication. This led to a health scare for Ken, resulting in an emergency hospital visit.

However, it was Tracy Barlow (acted by Kate Ford) who was wrongfully accused of the incident, while Ken seems to be quite taken with having Cassie in his life.

During the episode aired on Monday (December 30), viewers saw Cassie break down in tears, prompting concern from Ken.

She confided in him about her credit card debt accrued from Christmas shopping for her family, which she’s been hiding from them.

Ken, ever the good Samaritan, offered Cassie a temporary loan to help her out, a decision he later shared with his granddaughter Amy (Elle Mulvaney).

Amy’s reaction to the news was one of scepticism, casting doubt on both Ken and Cassie’s intentions, reports Lancs Live.

With Ken seemingly under Cassie’s spell, some fans of the show are predicting that he will propose marriage as a way to keep her close, and Cassie might just say ‘yes’ to get her hands on his wealth.
