Coronation Street character Carla Connor has been left devastated after being told she needs a kidney transplant, leaving fans wondering about her family link to Ryan

Coronation Street fans have expressed worry for Carla Connor after a recent health scare.

In the latest episodes, Carla was hurriedly taken to hospital and left devastated when she discovered that her kidney damage is severe, requiring a transplant.

In Thursday’s episode, Carla’s nephew Ryan Connor offered to donate a kidney if he’s a match, but she declined to consider it.

However, Carla’s focus quickly shifted when she noticed her other nephew, Bobby Crawford, had vanished, leaving her questioning his location.

It turned out that Bobby had visited Highfield Prison to see his father and Carla’s brother, Rob. The plot took a twist when Rob found out that Bobby had come to persuade him to donate a kidney to Carla, reports Lancs Live.

With these dramatic storyline developments, many soap viewers have been left pondering about Carla’s family tree, particularly her connection to nephew Ryan. Let’s delve into it…

In 1999, Carla tied the knot with Paul Connor, which made Liam Connor her brother-in-law and Michelle Connor her sister-in-law.

Ryan was thought to be Michelle’s biological son until 2007, when in a shocking turn of events, it was revealed there had been a mix-up at Weatherfield General. This meant that Michelle gained another son in her life, her biological child Ali Neeson.

Having rejected his biological parents, Ryan resented Michelle for getting to know Alex with the two falling out. However, he eventually learnt to accept Ali in his life and the two formed a close brotherly relationship.

Ryan’s mother, Michelle, departed the cobbles in 2019 to embark on a new life in Dublin, while Ryan chose to remain in Weatherfield, splitting his time between living with Carla and at his own residence.

Ryan frequently travels to Ireland to visit his mum Michelle and also spends time in Ibiza due to his DJing commitments.

Coronation Street is on ITV1 at 8pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and on ITV X and STV.
