ITV Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall reveals Tyrone Dobbs ‘deal breaker’ as he says ‘I feel sick’

It comes after Tyrone became aware Alina Pop was back in Weatherfield – with her son

Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has shared what he thinks is a deal breaker when it comes to future storylines for Tyrone Dobbs, and it’s clear he doesn’t want a father figure for his ITV soap character.

Spoilers for upcoming episodes reveal that Steve McDonald invites Alan’s on-screen mum Cassie to an evening of classical music in the park. Cassie arrives done up to the nines but when Steve reveals that she’s going with Ken Barlow as he’s got a hot date with Demi.

As Steve and Cassie bicker, Ken despairs and orders them both out. Cassie tells Steve she’s fed up with all the squabbling and is quitting. But when she returns to No.1 and overhears Ken on the phone, will Cassie change her mind?

But it seems Alan wouldn’t be too keen on Steve becoming Tyrone’s stepdad. Quizzed on the potential romance between Cassie and Steve that is seemingly brewing. “I’m not so sure how I’d feel about that. I know how Simon would feel about it, I can tell you that,” he laughed.

“We obviously have a great relationship and we wind each other up constantly by having to call Steve McDonald dad could be a real deal breaker. He’s probably got a similar hairline to me.”

But someone who Alan does want to call dad is former boxer Ricky Hatton, who is dating co-star, Cassi actress Claire Sweeney. “Obviously Claire’s got her own relationship going on in real life which I know is very public so I don’t mind saying it but I did text Ricky Hatton the other day saying, ‘Happy Father’s Day!'”

The soap star revealed he did text him back, and said: “Pint of Guinness soon, son?” Alan then quipped: “But I don’t know about the Steve McDonald one… I feel a bit sick!”

One thing that is definitely coming Tyrone’s way in Weatherfield is his ex-Alina Pop, three years after she left the street having had an affair with Tyrone before starting a relationship. Fiz Dobbs was recently informed that Alina would be back in the area as she is a witness in a human trafficking case.

During Wednesday night’s (August 7) trip to the cobbles, Fiz is floored when she bumps into Alina in Fresco’s car park and she’s quick to explain been called as a witness in a trial. But it was soon revealed that Alina wasn’t alone as she had her son with her, after it was hinted she could be pregnant when she left in 2021.

Alan admitted fans warned him of Tyrone’s potential child “all the time”. He told us: “It was so clever wasn’t it that everyone knows aside from Tyrone. He’s the last person to know anything about his own life anyway but it worked out quite well. In the streets, it was like, ‘She’ll be coming back with your baby!’ And people did cotton on very fast”

But Tyrone is ‘in denial’. “He’s just settling in with married life with Fiz after a 20-year romance, they’ve got two kids, they’ve got Evelyn and Cassie in their ears and they’re in this domestic bliss so the last thing he wants is anything interrupting that and he thinks this would definitely be an interruption to their new married lifestyle. So at first he just wants to dismiss it…”
