Many Coronation Street actors have appeared in the jungle over the years
Coronation Street actors Jack P Shepard, Colson Smith and Ben Price have discussed I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here on their latest podcast. The Podcast, ‘On The Sofa with Colson, Jack and Ben’ allows fans to have an insight into the stars’ lives off screen, including work anecdotes and general chit-chat.
Colson Smith, who plays the role of Craig Tinker on the ITV soap, told his co-stars he’d “love” going on I’m a Celebrity, before asking them how they would feel about going into the jungle. The actor was met by completely different responses, with Jack Shepard (David Platt) opposed to the idea and his on-screen brother Ben Price (Nick Tilsley) desperate to appear on the next series.
Having recently returned from Australia after appearing on the challenge show’s spin-off show ‘I’m a Celebrity Unpacked’, Colson has had a small taste of what the jungle experience is like. The show is hosted by reigning King of the Jungle, Sam Thompson, and stand up comedian, Joel Dommett.
Jack Shephard said he wouldn’t do it but pointed the finger at Ben Price saying he would do it. The David Platt actor said viewers would get annoyed with him as he wouldn’t do the challenges and would happily say “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here” every single time, instantly.
Ben said he would go in “all guns” before telling his co-stars “I’m going in next year. They’ve asked me”. He continued: “I’m stating it now so they know [the producers] in a heartbeat. In a heartbeat I will go on the jungle, literally if you pick up the phone I will do it for free.”
A Coronation Street star is currently in the jungle. Alan Halsall is among the final six contestants bidding to be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle. The final will take place on Sunday, December 8.
