The rising star from Merseyside is continuing to go from strength to strength on the Cobbles
Coronation Street star Jude Riordan is forging an incredible career in the limelight. The rising star, who hails from St Helens, is renowned for his role as Sam Blakeman in the Cobbles.
The 13-year-old from St Helens is a key part of the Platt family on the Cobbles as he is the son of Nick Tilsley. It has been a difficult time for the character as he had to wave goodbye to onscreen nan, Gail Platt, in an emotional Christmas Day episode.
The difficult period has continued for his character as his dad, Nick, split with partner, Leanne Battersby, after his affair with Toyah. Leanne, played by Jane Danson, has spiralled since the split and flirted with Ronnie Bailey in the Bistro.
However, Sam was on hand to witness the whole ordeal and Leanne has since spent her time trying to win back his trust after he has doubted her since she framed Toyah for fraud last year. Away from the screen, Jude’s life fortunately isn’t quite so dramatic and his parents regularly share updates from his exciting life in showbiz.
Jude is not just known for his portrayal in Coronation Street as he also plays Tyler Croft in the hit Sky TV show, Brassic. It was revealed this week the show is coming to an end after seven seasons and an announcement from a fan page was reshared on Jude’s account with a heartbroken .gif.
@brassicfans_ said: “It’s so sad for me to type this without getting teary but Brassic is coming to an end with Series 7 being the last-Confirmed by Sky.” Jude played the onscreen son of Michelle Keegan in the show who took to Instagram to set the record straight after rumours the show had been cancelled.
The former Coronation Street star, who recently confirmed she is pregnant, said: “And just for the record… Brassic has not been ‘AXED’ or ‘cancelled’. It’s come to a natural end after 6 fantastic seasons, and we’re currently in the middle of making the 7th and final season. Sending love to all the Brassic fans out there.”
Jude Riordan has loved his time filming Brassic
Jude is now excited for the next chapter as his character continues to go from strength to strength in the Cobbles. The character is a part of the Platt family and show boss Kate Brooks indicated she wants to put the show’s major families at the heart of storylines as she outlined her new vision for the show.
Jude is loving his time on Coronation Street as his parents shared a snap alongside fellow rising stars, Charlie Wrenshall, William Flanagan, Isabella Flanagan and their Emmerdale star sister, Amelia Flanagan.
He captioned the post: “ITV massive.” Jude proudly hails from St Helens and it’s no surprise that he is such a talented actor as his dad is a successful director.
Paul Riordan broke through in a behind the scenes role in Hollyoaks before he went on to earn directing credits for popular soaps such as Emmerdale and Casualty. Jude and Paul collaborated on a short film called Hidden which picked up two prizes the British Independent Film Awards.
Jude’s brother is also no stranger to the screen as they appeared together on Corrie in 2022. Zach played Oscar in the show, who took on Sam in a chess tournament at the bistro.
Jude is proud of his Merseyside roots and his family regularly shares updates when he is out and about in Merseyside. In a heartfelt tribute to his showbiz dad, it was revealed Jude is a big St Helens’ Rugby League fan.
He said: “Happy Father’s Day to @paulrio27 Thanks for the LOLs Father, thanks for being a great mentor, thanks for taking me to the snooker hall, thanks for my Saints season tickets and thanks for being a great great Dad!”
