Gail Platt actress Helen Worth was in floods of tears on her last day on set of Coronation Street after 50 years on the ITV soap.
Helen, 73, filmed her last scenes on the cobbles a number of weeks ago, but on Christmas night, Coronation Street fans watched in suspense as her much-loved character Gail left once and for all. Gail finally got her happily ever after and left the cobbles with her husband Jesse to start a new life in France.
While some viewers were worried that Gail would meet a sad end as super-villian Richard Hillman made an epic return, in the end, Gail got her happy ending – and actress Helen couldn’t be happier for the character who she played for over 50 years.
As avid Coronation Street fans continue to mourn the loss of the long-running character, new footage of Helen’s very last day on set has emerged – and the actress can be seen in floods of tears after filming her last scenes.

The new video, released by ITV bosses. shows the exact moment the director yelled ‘cut’ on Helen’s final scenes as her on-screen family – the Platt’s – gathered around her in the home that she lived for so long.
As every member of the cast and crew appeared to join in on the applause, Helen quickly broke down in tears before giving a heartfelt speech. The actress gushed: “The reason I’ve been here all these years, and it’s a lot of years – It’s more than I can think about really, Is because of all of you people that have been here for, well, some of you for all of those fifty years and others for half of that time.

“But I couldn’t have done any of it without you. I really couldn’t. You are the most amazing team of people, and I really do say thank you. And as for this lot, who didn’t tell me (about this). Oh God, I love them so much. I don’t quite know what I’m going to do without you. But thank you for everything.”
In the end, Helen’s character finally got her happy ending too, as she and Jesse did tie the knot. Despite some big bombshells for the Platts threatening the big day, everything went ahead and the pair got married. With that, they said their goodbyes and left Weatherfield and the rest of the Platts behind.
