ITV Coronation Street fears for Lauren as truth about ‘dodgy’ prison guard ‘revealed’

Coronation Street viewers believe there’s something ‘dodgy’ about the prison officer seen speaking to Lauren Bolton in her prison cell on the ITV soap, but could they be wrong?

There’s a new Coronation Street theory that could lead to trouble for Lauren Bolton following a new arrival.

Lauren remained in prison this week over Joel Deering’s murder, with her and Max Turner still hoping to convince the police it was self-defence. Lauren had hit Joel as he tried to kill Max, and while Max initially took the blame Lauren ended up admitting to everything.

She now faces losing her baby son Frankie if she goes to prison permanently, with Max eager to help. But after Monday’s episode of the ITV soap, some fans feared something might be amiss.

Viewers questioned whether a new face was going to bring trouble to Lauren, as a theory about the prison officer who entered her cell was shared. While they simply walked in and checked in on Lauren, one theory suggested there had to be more to the character.

Lauren was shown crying on the bed, struggling without Frankie – aware of her panel meeting to discuss his care was later that day. The prison officer urged her to stay positive, asking how she was feeling.

As he asked her if she was okay, Lauren said she wasn’t to which he asked: “Been getting upset about your little lad again?” He went on: “Try to stay positive. You never know, it still might work out all right for both you.”

With that he left the cell as Lauren cried, not convinced. Viewers watching the scenes really felt for Lauren, but some predicted that there would be more scenes ahead with the officer.

In fact, one theory suggested he was up to something and could be involved in something “dodgy”, wondering what this meant for Lauren. The theory read: “That orison officer is definitely dodgy!”

Nothing has been confirmed by Corrie or even suggested to hint that this is the case, but this is soap land after all. So might we be seeing more of the newcomer?

There’s more heartache ahead for Max in the coming weeks too, as his grandmother Gail Platt departs the show after 50 years. Teasing what’s ahead, soap boss Kate Brooks told The Mirror: “[The episode is] set against Gail’s wedding, whether she goes through with that or not, I cannot tell anything. But this is a story with the Platts at the heart of it, it’s really festive, basically it’s a story about family and how secrets impact and implode on a family.

“So there’s a lot of betrayals, lots of secrets are exposed during this episode and it will be like classic Corrie with a bit of a twist. [We want] to make sure that we give glorious Gail the exit that she deserves.”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
