Coronation Street’s Joel Deering could be dead after Lauren Bolton gave away two huge clues as the villain is set to face justice for his grooming and violent offences
Coronation Street viewers are certain that Joel Deering is dead after Lauren Bolton seemingly dropped two major hints. The villainous lawyer, who has been involved in grooming and violent crimes, was set to face justice.
His downfall began earlier this year when he was unveiled as the secret lover of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton). However, when she disappeared and was later presumed dead, Joel was taken aback by her unexpected return to Weatherfield – pregnant.
It came to light that Joel (Calum Lil) had been footing Lauren’s bills and lavishing her with presents in return for sex, leading to her pregnancy. Joel then sheltered Lauren in his flat while planning to send her off to Belfast.
In a horrifying twist, he was seen giving the teenager a drug that induced early labour with their son, Frankie, who is now fighting for his life in the hospital.
Last week, Corrie enthusiasts saw DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) closing in on Joel as they discovered who had sent the package of pills that caused Lauren’s premature labour.
But when Joel voluntarily went in for questioning, he confidently denied any wrongdoing, reports the Liverpool Echo. It wasn’t until Friday’s episode (September 20) that Swain finally cornered Joel, thanks to a confession from her daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin).
In another turn of events in Wednesday’s Corrie episode (September 25), Joel left Lauren stunned with a £5k bank transfer.
Lauren and Dee-Dee were left puzzling over why Joel sent a stack of cash their way, but it soon emerged that Joel’s ex, Emily, also received a sizeable sum.
Dee-Dee has urged Lauren not to touch the dodgy money, fearing it may be part of a scheme to drag her into illegal dealings. Meanwhile, Lauren’s been playing detective, admitting she’s kept tabs on Joel with a tracker that revealed his recent haunts including some ominous woodland and a warehouse.
Now viewers are all aflutter with theories about Joel’s ‘peculiar’ antics. One eagle-eyed fan took to X wagering: “Joel’s dead and buried. Lauren’s app noted he was at a warehouse (killed) and a field (buried). He was made to transfer money to Lauren and his ex-wife before he was murdered… my guess, potentially a #spoiler. #Corrie.”
Another Corrie enthusiast mused: “Uncle Stephen, Pat Phelan, Richard Hillman and Clayton and now our lovely Joel deserve better #Corrie.”
While another forecasted: “#Corrie Joel going to fake his own death.”
A curious tweet pondered: “Joel in a field and industrial estate….Buried evidence or buried bodies? #Corrie”, fuelling the fire of fan theories even more.
Corrie airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
