ITV Coronation Street fans say ‘there has to be’ as they ‘work out’ Alina Pop return twist

This week in the ITV soap, viewers saw the return of Alina with her and Tyrone’s son

Coronation Street fans have doubled down on their latest theory that a tragic death is on the cards. Earlier this week in the ITV soap, viewers saw the return of Alina Pop, with the role being reprised by actress Ruxandra Porojnicu.

Alina left Weatherfield three years ago following the end of her short-lived romance with Tyrone Dobbs. As fans know, the mechanic had an affair before embarking on a relationship with Alina back in 2021.

It resulted in him leaving Fiz Stapes after years of an on-and-off relationship but later, when she found someone knew, Tyrone’s jealousy was evident. After a tricky relationship, with Alina suffering a miscarraige after a fire was started by Tyrone’s daughter Hope, the character eventually decided to end their romance.

But Tyrone was blissfully unaware that Alina was pregnant. Corrie viewers saw her leave Weatherfield and headed for the airport, where she was seen with a hand lovingly placed on her stomach as she ordered a tomato juice, heavily hinting that she was keeping the unborn child.

Then in scenes aired in the ITV soap this week, Fiz bumped into Alina in Frecho’s car park, with the latter confirming she was only back as she was called as a witness in a human trafficking case and would be leaving the following day. However, Fiz saw a picture of Alina with a little boy on her phone who she brushed off as being her nephew.

But unconvinced, a shaken Fiz headed home to tell Tyrone what she had discovered and how she thinks he has a son. She told him Alina was staying at the Chariot Square Hotel and that she was leaving the following day before encouraging him to go and find her. But his efforts were unsuccessful when Debbie Webster informed him she’d already checked out.

Things were left slightly fraught between Fiz and Tyrone, with the former realising her husband was annoyed at her as he wasn’t able to get to Alina sooner. But as seen in Friday night’s episode (August 9), Tyrone’s mother Cassie Plummer intervened to extract the truth from Alina.

While at Street Cars, Cassie received a call from Alina requesting a taxi for her and her son. Cassie personally drove the taxi to pick them up, unbeknownst to Alina, she was being taken back to the cobbles. Upon realising where she was, Alina demanded Cassie to turn around, only to be met with a stunned Tyrone.

Alina found herself cornered and she ended up having to admit to Tyrone that he was the father of her son and the trio later headed for a chat where Tyrone got to spend some time with Dorin.

Later, Tyrone broke the news to Fiz that Dorin is his son and he wants to get to know him while he can so is paying for Alina to stay near the cobbles for the next few days until the trial is over. It came after Tyrone was seen seeking advice at the solicitors where they pointed out it was important to know whether Dorin had been born in the UK or Romania due to custody issues.

And after Corrie fans previously suspected a death, Tyrone’s equiry about custody has only furthered the theory that Alina may die in upcoming scenes.

One said: “Alina is going to die isn’t she? and Tyrone will be left with the baby #corrie.” Another replied: “100% they kill her off – it’ll be the people she’s testified against ordering a hit.” A third commented: “Alina’s death or child abandonment looms #Corrie.”

A foruth said: “As no #corrie child / young person can have both biological parents alive (except Amy) I fear Alina will be killed off by some dodgy people linked to the people she testified against. Hence giving Tyrone custody of his son.” @TwellyWatcher added: “There HAS to be a twist to this Alina and Tyrone child story. It’s too simple #Corrie.”
