Carla soon realised that this was all part of Rob’s plan

Viewers were left disappointed after an episode of the ITV soap, as fans told producers to “sort it out.” On Monday in Weatherfield, Carla was recovering from her kidney transplant. Elsewhere in the hospital, her brother Rob Donovan was also recovering from the surgery, but was plotting his exit route as he is currently in prison.

The prisoner has been having an affair with prison guard Mandy, and they had both planned to run away together. However, Rob’s plan proved to be more complicated than he had initially thought, after Carla’s girlfriend D.C Swain interfered.

When Rob called Mandy for help, she revealed she’d been suspended from the police because someone found out about their relationship. A furious Mandy dragged Carla out of the hospital bed, lying to her that Rob had taken a turn for the worse. When Carla asked to speak to a nurse, Mandy pulled out a gun and told her to follow her orders.

Carla soon realised that this was all part of Rob’s plan. Mandy kidnapped Carla, who warned Mandy of what she was getting herself into. Mandy revealed she was pregnant with Rob’s child, as Carla reminded her about what Rob is really capable of.

Meanwhile, at the hospital Rob fought off a police officer and stole his uniform in order to escape. Later in the episode, Rob got in the back of D.C Swain’s car, before punching the back of her head in anger. He said he “got carried away” and “lost his temper” making her unconscious.

Rob and Mandy planned to getaway, but before he managed to escape, Carla pushed her brother who plummeted down the staircase. Viewers were left on a cliff-hanger, as Rob’s fate was left unsealed as he ended up at the bottom of the stairs.

Fans took to social media following the unbelievable storyline, one said: “So we are expected to believe that Rob who has just had a major operation was able to fight off that prison guard?”

More added to the online conversation about “another over the top storyline.” One said: “Biggest load of c**p storyline so far, (desperate times) have a transparent lose a kidney then kidnap a police officer all before the stitches have been tied off… REALLY!!!”, “I’m laughing my head of at the ridiculousness of this show right now…murders, kidnaps, affairs, Gemma’s hair, bad acting, terrible storyline, awful characters, doom and gloom. Sort it out, or you’re gonna lose a lot of viewers!”

Coronation Street fans agreed “This entire soap has lost the plot.” and “Tonight’s episode is so far fetched. There’s no way Rob could have overcome the guard in his state, undress him or get him into bed. There’s no way Carla could have been wheeled away by a gun toting stranger.”
