Coronation Street fans are convinced that newcomer Brie has a connection to villain Joel Deering after her recent behaviour
Corrie viewers are swirling with theories that the street’s newest character, Brie, portrayed by Jessica Ellis, might be linked to the infamous former baddie Joel Deering (played by Callum Lil) after intriguing events unfolded in Friday’s episode.
The fresh face, currently behind bars alongside Lauren Bolton (acted by Cait Fitton), has been causing quite a stir, particularly following her scenes this week inside the mother and baby unit notably the same one harbouring Lauren and her infant son Frankie.
Lauren is serving time for the murder of Joel, after attacking him in self-defence as he tried to kill her partner Max Turner (portrayed by Paddy Bever), and is now anxiously awaiting her trial’s outcome.
Whispers about Brie began when she oddly provoked Lauren and even tossed snide remarks about Joel, unsettling Lauren by calling him “fit” and ribbing her about being locked up for his demise.
On Friday, the tension between Brie and Lauren intensified during Lauren’s trial. Brie gloated about her nearing freedom and hinted at how much older Lauren would get in prison, reports Lancashire Live.
“How’d it go today? ” Brie prodded, with Lauren retorting: “Like you care.”
As Brie settled down beside her, she retorted: “Yeah, you’re right; I couldn’t give a toss; I was just making conversation. I just thought I’d pop by to say, see you later because I am going home, I am outta here.”
“Yeah? ” fired back Lauren before probing: “How long for though?” Brie started to needle Lauren, openly questioning if she was “jealous.”
Mockingly, she said, “I can’t say that I blame you; you’ll be an old bag before they let you out.”
Is Brie related to Joel?
But when Brie crossed a line and brought up Lauren’s son, the young mum warned: “Don’t you ever talk about my son like that, I will kill you.”
Fans of the ITV drama are now speculating on Brie’s actual agenda and possible previous connections with Joel, curious as to why she harbours such animosity towards Lauren.
Speculation has ensued among followers of the soap after recent twists in the tale. This theory emerged online: “I think that Joel groomed that lady as well. That is why she brought it up with Lauren. Memories all over again.”
Another viewer pondered: “I was hoping when she first approached Lauren that she had been groomed by Joel as well. Maybe she is helping someone connected to Joel instead.”
