ITV Coronation Street exclusive ‘behind the scenes’ footage of the Platt’s fire

Fans have started to predict who is responsible for starting the fire at the Platt’s

Intense scenes continued in Weatherfield on Tuesday, with residents of the street concerned about the lives of Toyah and Max. On Monday’s episode of the ITV soap, dramatic scenes showed a fire break out in the Platt’s home.

While trying to enjoy Sarah’s birthday party at the Bistro, a petrol soaked rag was pushed through the letterbox at number eight. The fire left Toyah and Max hospitalised and fighting for their lives.

Fans assumed Harvey Gaskell was responsible for starting the blaze, as David Platt has lived in fear for weeks after taking money from the gangster. However, Tuesday’s episode seemed to change viewers’ minds about the real suspect.

Viewers saw firefighters enter the burning house to find Max, who was then taken to hospital where he remains in a coma. Shona told a distressed Lauren that Max’s lungs were damaged, and the doctors had put him in an induced coma to try and save his life.

Soon after, Kit arrived at the hospital to tell Shona and David the fire had been caused deliberately, as David suggested Logan Ratcliffe was responsible. As the search for the arsonist began, Coronation Street shared some exclusive behind scenes footage of the stars filming the explosive episodes.

Fans began to predict who was responsible for starting the fire. One said: “There’s no way David risked so much to get an insurance claim by burning his own house down, surely not? I think Logan did it!” While another added: “I think Shona is the arsonist.”

There are a number of suspects who each had their own possible motivations, including Leanne, Abi, David, Logan and Harvey.

Later in the episode, David arrived at Shuttleworth’s funeral parlour to find Logan in an attempt to get him to confess to arson on record. Sarah and Todd burst though the door moments after Logan attacked David, with Logan screaming: “It was him, he burnt his house down and his son was in it.”

As the episode came to an end, Sarah discovered David had been researching arson and house insurance on his phone. He tried to convince her he didn’t actually go through with his plan, but Sarah didn’t believe a word of it.

Ultimately viewers were left guessing about the arsonist’s true identity, while Max continued to fight for his life.

Coronation Street returns to ITV1 on Wednesday at 8pm.
