ITV Coronation Street Daisy Midgeley star’s ‘sad’ exit as fans ‘had no idea’ about real life detail

Charlotte Jordan is set to depart the Cobbles this year and viewers are surprised to discover one difference between the soap star and her character

Coronation Street fans were reeling after it was confirmed this week that Charlotte Jordan will soon be exiting the show. The soap star is renowned for her role as Daisy Midgeley in the Cobbles.

The 29-year-old arrived in Weatherfield in 2020 and quickly established herself as a fan favourite. Daisy soon got a job behind the bar at the Rovers Return and she has been involved in some of the show’s most important storylines.

Daisy was subjected to a vile acid attack in 2023, which derailed her wedding plans with Daniel Osbourne. The characters have since split as Daisy has recently become romantically involved with corrupt police officer Kit Green.

However, Daisy’s dramatic time in Weathefield will soon come to an end as it was confirmed she is one of a number of stars leaving the show. A statement from ITV shared with the ECHO said: “The producers fully understand Charlotte’s desire to explore other projects, she is a talented ambitious actress”.

The spokesperson added that Charlotte gave the show “plenty of time for the producer and writing team to devise a dramatic exit storyline which has already started to play out on screen. She will be on screen until early summer.”

Corrie fans on social media platform X shared their sadness after the exit news was revealed. @conversationstr said: “Really sad that we’ll be saying goodbye to the incomparable Daisy Midgeley this year. Charlotte Jordan is an absolutely fantastic performer and we’re going to miss Daisy so much! Her and Jenny behind the bar are such a brilliant team.”

Amanda commented: “I’m gutted Daisy is leaving she’s my fave” Nick added: “Beyond gutted Charlotte Jordan is leaving, she has made Daisy not only a fascinating newcomer but all time great, funny, heartbreaking, beautiful with edge, such a shame. Her Glenda and Jenny is one of the best combos behind the bar since the 80s.”

Charlotte is leaving to pursue new opportunities in acting away from the ITV soap. The soap star is excited to see what the next chapter brings in her career as an actor.

However, she has previously revealed how her life could have went down a completely different as she was scouted to be a part of a pop band being created by Simon Fuller and Geri Halliwell.

She told the Metro: “It was a development deal, which means we spent a lot of time bonding, doing choreography and recording songs in the studio – sometimes cool songs, sometimes naff songs. You just try to find your sound.

“When they felt like we’d exhausted all options as a group, I was offered a solo deal. I did that for another two years and then, as I got older, I realised that acting was what I actually wanted to do and decided to go back to it. Just because you can sing, doesn’t necessarily mean you should be a singer.”

In addition to her popstar past, fans are often surprised when they hear Charlotte’s real accent. Although she adopts a Manchester accent for her role as Daisy, Charlotte actually hails from Surrey. After the soap star was recognised at the British Soap Awards in 2023, fans were shocked to hear how she really sounded.

Mandy said: “Wow her real voice is soooo different I had no idea”, while Lance said: “She sounds posh”, and @strictly.sparkles said: “Wow she sounds a lot different”. Charlotte regularly shares updates from her life on social media.

Charlotte’s Instagram page is flooded with mirror selfies and solo snaps of adorable French bulldog Olive. She is is in a happy relationship with her boyfriend, Paul, but joked she struggles to get him to post for pictures when they were on a luxury break in 2022.

She shared a snap of her rarely seen boyfriend, alongside a heart eyes emoji: “Anyone else have to take pics of their better half on the sly.”
