Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has opened up about special treatment he received during his time in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! camp in regards to his diet
Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall, best know for his portrayal of Tyrone Dobbs in the Manchester based soap, braved the Australian jungle in the 2024 series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.
The star lasted until two days before the final, when he was evicted from the camp alongside TikTok star, GK Barry. After his exit, Alan opened up about receiving special treatment from the producers, details that didn’t quite make the show’s edit. As a devout vegetarian, the soap star had a different dining experience to his campmates. In an Instagram Q&A one fan asked the star: “Did you give up being veggie whilst in the jungle?”
Alan responded: “No they send a veggie equivalent. Generally something very bland, plain tofu… etc.”
A mainstay on the cobbles since 1998, Alan’s become a household name, winning hearts with Tyrone’s evolution onscreen. During his time on I’m a Celebrity he left with profound reflections and fresh friendships, though he admitted the showdown was beyond his expectations.
Off-screen, Alan co-parents his daughter Sienna with his ex-wife and former Coronation Street co-star Lucy-Jo Hudson, whom he met on set in 2005. The reunion with his daughter was an emotional moment for Alan after his Australian adventure. During a heartfelt Instagram Q&A session, Alan shared how he felt it was “impossible put into words” about the excitement to see Sienna once again.
Having a close bond with his 11 year old, the challenge of being away hit hard. Alan opened up about his emotions during the flight back, and previously, he revealed to his I’m A Celeb campmates the conversations about his participation, acknowledging the difficulty his daughter had with the idea: “That’s going to be really difficult. She has found the idea of me going difficult. It is only in the last two weeks or so that she has come around to the idea,” he said.
“We never spend more than two weeks apart. I am very emotional about Sienna, so it will be interesting to see how I cope. I tend to try to hide my emotions but with Sienna I’m not very good at all – I think I will have several blubs. She is 11 and so I’m hoping I won’t embarrass her.”
Alan was recently reunited with his daughter at Manchester airport, as he previously revealed to OK! that she wouldn’t be flying over to Australia with him. “Sienna isn’t going to be coming over to Australia just because you’re not sure of how much time you’d get to spend together,” he said. “Also taking time out of school, and if she was only over there for a couple of days, it’s quite a long way to be taking Sienna over there.”
