Home and Away will welcome a new face in upcoming scenes in Australia, as Neighbours star Craig Hall arrives in the Bay as part of Cash Newman’s dark new year storyline.
The soap’s dramatic season finale, which aired in Australia in November, saw police officer Cash waking up with his hands covered in blood, while his love rival Tim Russell lay unconscious on the ground nearby.
Horrified Justin Morgan came across the scene, which looks hugely incriminating for Cash given how clear he has made his anger toward Tim for dating Cash’s former fiancée, Eden Fowler.
As Home and Away returns to Australian screens next week, TV Week reports that a shocked Justin will try to take control of the horrifying situation, as he enlists Eden, Remi Carter and Bree Cameron to help Tim while they wait for an ambulance to arrive.
Unfortunately, it becomes clear that Tim’s condition is growing steadily worse and he needs urgent medical care.
And for doctor Bree, her recent professional doubts following the situation with Alf Stewart’s near-death last year mean that it’s possible she could end up doing more harm than good for Tim.
Sadly for a confused and disoriented Cash, things only get worse for him when the emergency services arrive on the scene.
New detective sergeant Mark Townsend (played by Hall) has his sights firmly set on one suspect when it comes to Tim’s attacker – Cash. And with a new trailer posted on Home and Away’s official Instagram account revealing that Cash will be arrested for Tim’s assault, things aren’t looking good for him.
“Cash is in a predicament, because the only evidence they really have is him, covered in blood, next to Tim, so it all points to him,” Cash star Nicholas Cartwright told TV Week.
“The situation is dire – and because he has no recollection of what happened, he must place his trust in the police.”
New guest star Hall will be familiar to Australian soap fans as Neighbours’ Victor Stone, who appeared in multiple episodes of the soap in 2024.
Victor was introduced as the absent ex-husband of Jane Harris and father of her children, Byron and Nicolette Stone. After initially believing that he was dying of cancer, he later discovered that he was in remission and fled Erinsborough, abandoning his family once again.
However, he returned later in the year to make amends, while also striking up a romance with Melanie Pearson. He later departed Ramsay Street again, with a potential future with Melanie suggested.
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5, with repeat screenings at 6pm on 5STAR and first-look screenings at 6.30pm on 5STAR. Selected classic episodes are available via Prime Video in the UK.
