Home and Away to air emotional new story for Bree Cameron

Bree’s trauma over Felicity causes problems at work.

Home and Away spoilers follow for Australian-paced episodes, which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.

Home and Away will air a big new story for Bree Cameron in the coming weeks, as her feelings over the death of Felicity Newman cause her to struggle at work.

Australian viewers recently saw Felicity collapse after experiencing blurred vision. It was discovered that Felicity had a brain aneurysm and her brother Cash made the sad decision to turn off her life support machine.

Felicity’s death has rocked the Summer Bay community and Bree, who was the doctor responsible for taking care of Felicity in her final moments, is now struggling to focus on her work at the hospital.

Bree star Juliet Godwin has told TV Week that her character has started to become fixated on losing Felicity, explaining that she is “terrified of making a mistake and losing another patient”.

“She’s seeing the devastating effect of Flick’s death on her community and feels partly responsible,” she added. “She starts to doubt her abilities as a doctor, the fear manifesting in a need to control everything and being overly cautious.”

In scenes that will air in Australia this week, Bree treats an accident victim who has arrived in the hospital’s emergency department. But when she gets some of the patient’s blood on her scrubs, she becomes distracted and runs off to wash away the stain.

“Seeing the blood triggers a loop of fearful ‘What if?’ thoughts,” Godwin explained. “She’s frozen and becomes overwhelmed.”

Bree’s disappearance leaves shaken nurse Dana Matheson to take care of the patient on her own and, when she finds Bree later, Dana questions her about what happened.

She’s confused when Bree continues to be obsessed with the blood stain on her uniform, wondering why she is so fixated on a seemingly small issue.

Could this be the start of a difficult journey for Bree and her loved ones, as they continue to deal with the consequences of losing Felicity?

Bree has also recently got back together with her ex-boyfriend Remi Carter, following their split earlier this year when she discovered that he had been lying to her.

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5, with repeat screenings at 6pm on 5STAR and first look screenings at 6.30pm on 5STAR. Selected classic episodes are available via Prime Video in the UK.
