“If things go wrong, I want you to save my baby.”
Home and Away spoilers follow for Australian-paced episodes, which some UK viewers may prefer to avoid.
Home and Away has revealed heartbreaking scenes for Harper Matheson, as the soap returns for a new season in 2025.
In scenes that have aired in Australia, pregnant Harper recently learned that her baby has a cyst on his lung and requires in-utero surgery to prevent foetal heart failure. However, the procedure is risky as Doctor Levi Fowler has never performed this type of surgery before.
Though the baby’s father Tane Parata and Harper’s sister Dana Matheson tried to help her review the facts, Harper was reluctant to have the surgery as it could result in the baby’s premature birth.
The 2024 season finale in Australia saw Harper ultimately listen to the doctor and agree to have the surgery. But did she make the right decision?
In a new Instagram video, Home and Away has teased its 2025 return with devastating scenes of Harper’s upcoming procedure.
The promo video opens with a terrified Harper declaring, “I’ve never been so scared in my life”. The expectant mother is shown prepped for surgery, as she shares a heartbreaking request with Levi.
“I need you to promise me something. If things go wrong, I want you to save my baby,” she pleads.
The clip then saw Levi during the surgery, announcing “it’s not working”, before another doctor reveals, “she might die”. Both lives appear to hang in the balance as Levi adds: “If he’s delivered now, he might.”
Fans took to the comment section to share their theories and excitement for the soap’s return. “They’re both gonna make it, have faith though,” wrote one. “Oh I’m so excited,” said another.
A third added: “Not long now until we get our daily fix and all will be revealed!”
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5, with repeat screenings at 6pm on 5STAR and first-look screenings at 6.30pm on 5STAR. Selected classic episodes are available via Prime Video in the UK.
