“Unfortunately, the worst is yet to come for her.”
Hollyoaks star Anya Lawrence has revealed a “heavy” new storyline for her character Vicky Grant.
Vicky has been involved in a lot of drama since the show’s recent time jump. After her secret affair with Ethan Williams was revealed, the latter was found dead on his wedding day, with scorned Vicky ending up on the suspect list.
The teenager was then witness to a fake robbery in her home, which went wrong and resulted in her injury. She later began another affair with her boyfriend Robbie Roscoe’s brother Freddie.
“Vicky’s been through some difficult times. Scott leaving was hard, and being caught up in the robbery that Robbie and Donny set up left her with PTSD,” Lawrence explained to Inside Soap magazine.
The actor revealed more trouble ahead for her character, in a dark new storyline that will play out across the next few months. “Unfortunately, the worst is yet to come for her,” she hinted.
“I’ve recently filmed some scenes that will be on screen in the next few months which were definitely the heaviest thing I’ve done since I’ve been on the show.” She added: “I was privileged to be able to do them, but it was a challenge.”
Lawrence highlighted her character’s self-destructive tendencies and referred to the affair with Freddie as “just a phase”. She admitted Vicky and Robbie “have the potential to be a sweet couple”.
“Though the height difference [with Freddie] is better than with Robbie – I’ve got a bad back from leaning into his eyeline because I’m so tall!” she said.
Meanwhile, the star isn’t ruling out another showdown with Sienna, who was recently released from prison after being charged with Ethan’s murder.
“Going after Ethan put her in Sienna’s firing line, and Vicky didn’t stand a chance,” said Lawrence. “I loved the fight scenes with Anna Passey [who plays Sienna], she’s phenomenal. I’m ready for the rematch, and can’t wait to lose again!”
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
