He confronts Leela about Clara.
Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday’s episode (December 4), which is available to watch now on streaming service Channel 4 and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
Note: This story contains discussion of rape.
Hollyoaks has revealed Abe Fielding’s sinister new plan amid Leela Dexter’s rape ordeal, in the show’s latest episode.
Leela has struggled with a big secret, and through flashbacks viewers learned that she had been attacked by someone at Theresa’s birthday party in the woods, during the show’s missing year.
But in shocking scenes that aired yesterday (December 3), it was confirmed that Leela was raped by her brother-in-law and her daughter’s fiancé Abe at the party, though she doesn’t know that he is her attacker.
In today’s episode, Leela wanted to get to the truth about whether or not Joel was the father of baby Clara, and she secretly ordered a paternity test.
Elsewhere, Peri told Abe she was keen on a Christmas wedding next year, but Abe suggested that they get married this Christmas instead – in two weeks.
Delighted, Peri started wedding planning and made an appointment at a wedding dress shop that morning.
Abe found the paternity test kit in the drawer and panicked, so after Peri left, he confronted Leela about who Clara’s dad is.
He accused her of cheating on Joel, stressing that it would destroy Joel’s life, but Leela remained firm that she didn’t make a mistake.
She decided to tell Abe the truth and explained that she might have got spiked at Theresa’s party and she was raped by an unknown man.
Abe found out that Leela hadn’t told anyone about her ordeal, and that she was desperate for Clara to be Joel’s. He said that telling the truth would blow her family apart and convinced her not to do the paternity test.
As Leela left to join Peri at the wedding dress shop, Abe used the time alone to take the paternity test himself, to determine whether or not he is Clara’s father.
Later, Leela and Peri returned in high spirits with two wedding dresses in tow. Leela told Joel that she thinks things are going to be okay, but will she ever be able to tell her husband the truth about her ordeal?
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
