Dillon Ray (Nathaniel Dass) lays his cards on the table in Hollyoaks just before New Year’s Eve, telling Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis) that he wants to give things another go.
Lucas has – much like the rest of us – struggled to get his head around the fact that Dillon cheated on him with his sister Leah Barnes (Ela-May Demircan) while he was in young offenders.
Leah subsequently gave birth to Dillon’s baby.
The truth came out a few weeks ago, with Lucas understandably devastated as he made it quite clear that he can’t see a way back for them now.
But as the New Year approaches, Dillon decides to make one final plea to win his ex over.
Things are awkward at first but soon enough the pair start to discuss what transpired during the ‘missing’ year, having their first proper conversation since Lucas was released from young offenders.
As New Year’s Eve approaches, tradition simmers in the boys’ minds. Is a fresh start actually possible? Can Lucas forgive Dillon for such a devastating betrayal?
There are obstacles aplenty for them to overcome and whether or not they’re capable of doing so remains to be seen but hope is on the horizon when Pearl Anderson (Dawn Hope) offers some words of wisdom and gives the boys a nudge.
Armed with newfound courage and a desire to see if they’ve got a future, Lucas asks Dillon to see in the New Year with him at Casa McQueen.
I’m keeping tight-lipped on how the evening in question concludes but subsequent scenes see Dillon determined to make things right with his former flame, pleading with Lucas to give him another shot, telling him that he knows he’s still in love with him.
Will Lucas be able to get over the betrayal?
Is there a new chapter for HayRay on the cards? You’ll just have to wait and see but later that day Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey) asks Lucas to join him for some drinks on him.
Will Rex offer Lucas advice on what to do?
