The net closes in on Abe Fielding (Tyler Conti) in Hollyoaks next week as he’s hauled in by police for more questioning after another accusation is made.
The villainous character, as viewers know, coercively controlled and abused Cleo McQueen (Nadine Mulkerrin) for months before taking her prisoner in his flat for over a year.
While holding Cleo captive, he started a relationship with Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell), who he similarly gaslit and manipulated.
Cleo, meanwhile, staged an escape but before she could inform her loved ones about the torment she suffered at Abe’s hands, she was knocked down by a car and put in a medically induced coma.
Abe covered his tracks and subsequently married Peri and, in upsetting scenes earlier this month, he raped her.
Peri reported Abe to the police but he was released pending further investigation. Cleo, meanwhile, regained consciousness at the hospital and told everyone about the hell she suffered at Abe’s hands.
Upcoming scenes will see Abe arrested once again – this time for kidnap – as Donny (Louis Emerick) takes him in questioning.
Abe twists the narrative, claiming that he’s a victim of Cleo, who made him protect her while she hid after the death of Suzanne Ashworth (Suzanne Hall).
Donny later shows Cleo an intimate video that Abe turned over to the police.
Peri, Leela (Kirsty-Leigh Porter) and Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speeed) search online to see if Abe has posted the video of Cleo on any sites. To their horror, however, they discover not only that recording but one of Peri too.
As Peri and Joel attempt to process this, Leela takes a closer look at the website and she is left horrified when she finds a thumbnail of herself in the woods.
Leela, as viewers know, was raped by Abe in the woods during the ‘missing’ year.
Joel informs Cleo about the videos.
Cleo, however, feels humiliated and doesn’t want to go to the police with them. Joel encourages her to do so and DI Banks subsequently informs her that the entire website has disappeared.
In the wake of the latest developments, Leela goes to see Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) and, seeing just how much pain he has inflicted, Mercy ultimately decides that they must kill Abe.
But is this how the Abe story comes to an end? Will the abuser die?
