Hollyoaks confirms shocking Cleo and Abe twist – and it’s horrifying

Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Monday’s (September 16) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.

Cleo McQueen’s (Nadine Mulkerrin) ordeal at Abe Fielding’s (Tyler Conti) hands is not only set to continue but it has continued off-screen as she’s been subjected to his abuse for another year after the show took a history-making time jump.

The nurse, as viewers know, was in a relationship with Abe, who has exhibited extremely disturbing and controlling behaviour which intensified over the past few months as he became physically violent.

Cleo staged her escape in Hollyoaks’ first three-episode week but tragedy struck as she lost control of the motorbike, which sped through the McQueen household and claimed the life of Suzanne Ashworth (Suzanne Hall).

After the events of the episodes in question, Cleo was rushed to hospital, where she confided in Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speed) about the abuse she’s suffered at his brother’s hands, which prompted a showdown between the two siblings.

But Abe later returned to Cleo’s hospital room to inform her that Marie (Rita Simons) had died – and vowed to make her life a living hell as a result.

The Channel 4 soap subsequently took a time jump, with Monday’s (September 16) edition of the serial taking place a year after the stunt week chaos.

Cleo was thought to be in Bali, recovering from her ordeal at Abe’s hands – but that isn’t actually the case, with Abe keeping her locked up behind a reinforced locked door in the flat!

Cleo was seen looking terrified by a wall as Abe entered with food on a platter for her.

Will someone work out that Cleo is still in the village? Will she get the help she needs to escape Abe once and for all?

Abe, meanwhile, remains the talk of the village for the way he treated Cleo and, to further complicate matters, he’s embarked on a secret relationship with Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell), who thinks he deserves another chance!

Hollyoaks streams Mondays to Wednesdays from 7am on Channel 4’s streaming platform, or catch episodes on TV at 7pm on E4.
