Hollyoaks has confirmed that Mark ‘Dodger’ Savage will be in a surprising new relationship on his return to the village.

Last year, the soap revealed the exciting news that actor Danny Mac will be returning to the role of Dodger after a decade away.

In this week’s scenes, Sienna helps her grandmother Martha to find some records after she opens up about her previous abusive relationship with Charles. A hooded figure is seen watching Sienna, that is revealed to be her twin brother Dodger.

Hollyoaks’ recent New Year trailer gave viewers some huge new details about Dodger’s return, as he is shown fighting with Donny, who is back working for the police.

But in an exclusive scene which aired after the trailer, it was confirmed that Dodger is now an undercover police officer himself, and Donny’s interference may have wrecked a case he has been working on for a long time.

In scenes that will air next week, Dodger returns to the village properly, and it becomes clear that he already knows Rex.

When Rex takes Dodger out on a job with him, it is revealed to viewers that he has been getting Dillon hooked on drugs and isolating him from his family – a new storyline that kicked off in Monday’s episode (January 6).

Meanwhile, Donny formally makes the decision to come out of retirement and return to the police force. He is thrilled by this change and tells Misbah that he is going back to his roots, as he never truly stopped investigating crime while he has been in the village.

But the biggest revelation is soon to come, as next week viewers will discover that Dodger is dating none other than Maxine on his return to the village.

The pair have a history and were a popular couple during Dodger’s previous stint in the show, but their relationship was impacted by Maxine’s years of abuse at the hands of Patrick – who has now been confirmed to be Dodger’s uncle, not his father.

At this point, there are no details about Dodger reconnecting with Sienna and the Blakes, but with Dilly’s disappearance next week, it is set to be a dramatic period for the family.
