Abe has been caught out.

Hollyoaks has confirmed a huge twist involving Martha Blake, after Cleo McQueen’s dramatic escape scenes.

This week, Cleo realised that Abe has been lying to her during her time spent trapped in the flat, after discovering that his mum Marie is in fact still alive, and he still intends to marry Peri.

She told Abe that her eating disorder has come back worse than ever, and she wants to marry him before she dies – in an escape plan that she will carry out in next week’s episodes.

As the couple say their vows on the folly, Cleo collapses and appears unresponsive. Abe panics and wraps Cleo’s body in a blanket before putting her in the car.

It has been revealed that Cleo wakes up on the riverbank the next day and sets out to stop Abe and Peri’s wedding, although just what happens next is being kept under wraps.

But with the McQueens issuing Abe with a warning after a chain of dramatic events, it seems that someone else has information that could bring him down.

In scenes that will air later this month, Sienna continues to worry about her grandmother Martha, who tells her some shocking information.

Sienna tells Jez that Martha saw Abe putting Cleo’s dead body in his car, meaning that he was spotted the night before his wedding.

As Mercedes is already suspicious about Abe, she tells Sienna her theories. When Sienna relays what Martha told her, Mercedes confronts Martha about her sighting.

With Abe continuing to threaten Mercedes, Sienna and Martha offer their help and head to the police station, where Martha is questioned about what she saw the night Abe put Cleo in his car boot.

But as Martha speaks to DI Banks, her story gets muddled with another recent wedding tale, and she ends up admitting to killing Ethan on his wedding day.

Back at the house, Martha confesses her crime to Sienna. But Sienna replies that she couldn’t have killed Ethan, because she did – in another major twist to the murder case.

But as the fallout from Ethan’s death looks set to continue, is Martha able to help bring down Abe?

These scenes will air on the week beginning Monday, December 23 on E4 and streaming service Channel 4.
