Finally someone is there for Frankie.
Note: This story discusses topics including sibling sexual abuse.
Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Thursday’s episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn’t air on E4 until Friday.
Hollyoaks has seen Frankie Osbourne’s horrific sibling abuse storyline coming to light after she told Darren about JJ’s violence.
The soap has been exploring the delicate topic since March this year, when it was revealed that JJ had been sexually abusing his sister Frankie and threatening her so she would keep quiet.
In Thursday night’s (August 15) streaming episode, Frankie was struggling to keep the secret as Nancy’s trial approached. In earlier scenes, Frankie lied about Nancy pushing her down the stairs to cover for an injury she sustained after JJ attacked her.
As the family celebrated JJ for signing with United, Frankie was excited to leave for London to start dance school. When her brother suggested he’d come visit and hugged her for a group photo on the pitch, she was left reeling and pushed JJ away.
Later on in the locker room, JJ caught up with Frankie, accusing her of ruining his special day and tried to assault her once again. She fought back and fled to the adjacent toilet as JJ knocked on the door furiously.
Terrified, Frankie tried to escape from the bathroom window but couldn’t. Oscar spotted her and rushed to call Darren for help.
Once there, Darren asked Frankie what happened but she made it seem that the bathroom door was stuck, adding she’d overreacted.
At The Dog for JJ’s party, Darren was worried about Frankie acting strangely and encouraged her to open up to him.
At last feeling safe, Frankie broke down in tears and told her dad the harrowing truth.
“JJ… He’s sexually abusing me,” she finally said to a speechless Darren.
Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
