The former Coronation Street start left the cobbles in 2018 but has recently shared a nostalgic photo from her time on the ITV soap, which has left fans speculating about her potential return
Helen Flanagan, who played Rosie Webster in Coronation Street, has sparked speculation about a possible return to the ITV soap with a post on social media that sent fans wild.
The Bury-born actress first joined Coronation Street in 2000 when she was just nine years old. She took a break from the cobbles in 2012 before returning briefly in 2017 and then leaving again in 2018 for maternity leave.
She posted an old photo of herself from her time on the show, causing fans to reminisce and speculated about the 34-year-old returning to her role as Rose Webster The picture shows a young Helen alongside Barbara Knox, a Coronation Street legend. Helen captioned the photo: “Ah, love this pic I found @coronationstreet with the iconic Barbara Knox. I was Matilda’s age.”
This led to a flood of comments from fans, many of whom would like to see Helen back on the show, reports the Mirror. One fan said: “Love this, Helen. I remember you at that age! Xx,” while another wondered if the post was a hint that she might be returning to Coronation Street, saying “A hint, perhaps?”
A third fan commented: “we NEED Rosie and Sophie back especially with Kevin’s upcoming storyline, you girls are such a delight to watch.”
Another, who said they were currently watching old episodes of Coronation Street, said: “Awww. Love this picture. I miss you in Coronation Street…Your acting was amazing. You are such a huge talent.”
The former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan has bravely opened up about her “very scary” mental health struggles following her split with ex-footballer Scott Sinclair, after being together for over a decade and sharing three children. On a dream New Year’s getaway in Bali with the kids – Matilda, nine, Delilah, six, and Charlie, three – Helen experienced a severe psychotic episode.
Now, a year later, Helen reflects on the significant turnaround in her life by sharing personal photos from that trip. In an honest social media post, she discussed family conflicts, her battle with mental health, and financial difficulties, detailing how Christmas was spent that year: “This time last year: Christmas – I spent it in bed x i went to my mums for a few hours as my dad was calling me x”.
Confessing to having had a tumultuous love life, she said: “My love life was a s**t show that year…. I didn’t look after my my mental health or think. I felt so s**t and sad. I felt like my whole life was f***ed up now and I had the perfect family. 13 years is a long time to be with someone. My whole 20s. I had a lot of family fall outs too and I also lost basically all my money. Me and Scott weren’t married we were engaged.
“My mental health was so bad I thought maybe my kids would be better off without me and maybe they would be better off with their dad as he’s more level headed than me. I love my kids more than words can say but when you are not well you’re not well.”
She spent this Christmas with her children at her parent’s house, a stark contrast to last year when she suffered a psychosis episode due to a “bad reaction” to her ADHD medication.
Speaking to The Mirror, Helen revealed that she had been carrying unresolved trauma from her 2022 split with Scott, which led to her diagnosis of psychosis. She said: “I don’t see it as a break-up, I see it as a divorce. We were together 13 years. But instead of processing it all, I threw myself into work and shut off my emotions. I just went into survival mode. Then it all came to the surface earlier this year and I was mentally and physically breaking down. It was really sad and very scary. I was seeing things and I felt like I was in danger all the time.”
